My niece works in the NHS as she is split from the kids father, she isnt covered , saying that the school is shutting completely anyway. Her mum works in the NHS as well so one or the other is going to be off to mind the child. The thoughts are also that the schools will have to stay open for those kids through what would normally be 2 weeks off for easter. They've no idea what staff they need, what to do with the kids (obviously they can't just continue teaching and leave the rest out), or if they'll even be paid for it.
They've been told its only kids with both parents in key jobs, still don't know exactly what jobs this includes, but what if the parents are separated?
I think your niece will get childcare. The details were non-existent today so rumours began to fly around. It’s looking as though it’s not both parents in essential work, but just one. The local authority must care for these children in the unusual case that a school won’t be able to.My niece works in the NHS as she is split from the kids father, she isnt covered , saying that the school is shutting completely anyway. Talking to a neighbour who works in ST Johns in kirkdale they are staying open for about 12 kids, the headmistress said they ,would stay open with a skeleton staff to help out
Unlike the other school when my niece asked they said it wasn't worth staying open because pupils and teachers were not showing up already.
Rumours of the hospitals running a drop off point for NHS staff in this position in the area of hospitals so they can carry on working.
Sorry to hear that mate.
If your partner is an NHS worker there will be childcare available through school.
Looks like it’s only if both parents have a job on the list

I think lots of parents have, but that was schools and local authorities needing to get a decision out without being informed by the government. We still haven’t officially been told who is on the list or if it’s one or both parents. We haven’t told our parents anything yet, and other LA’s shouldn’t have either. It’s looking like it will be one parent.Interesting. Had an email from school saying it’s both parents.
This school policy is great isn’t it. So we are in a position where I will probs lose my job, or at best put myself right in the firing line, because I’ll be the one to look after the kids. My boss is not sympathetic to things like this at all. So the discussion with the wife is her quitting her good job in the NHS and working bank hours on a weekend at a lesser band.
It’s a disgrace that we have been bounced into. I’ve no problem with closing senior schools where the kids can look after themselves but closing primary schools is just shooting ourselves in the foot.....
Just had an update from my son's school and LA advice is the opposite. Has to be both parents unless separated, childcare provision not education and only school hours.I think your niece will get childcare. Wait and find out what they say tomorrow when the government releases the list. I imagine it will come with guidance as to whether it’s one or both parents, at the moment LA’s are just guessing. They may be overruled.Just had an update from my son's school and LA advice is the opposite. Has to be both parents unless separated, childcare provision not education and only school hours.
