It is infuriating.

Earlier today, Johnson said sommet like we have robust controls and quarantine proceedures. Well, clearly, we dont. Still.
The controls themselves on paper are pretty good, tbh wish we had something similar in the US.

It is choosing to avoid implementing them due to non medical criteria that is the problematic bit.

@tsubaki was pointing out a month ago that there was no logical reason India wasn’t redlisted

be interesting to see when (and if) India is added to the red list alongside Pakistan and Bangladesh - by rights, surely it should have been on there already:

I've been ignoring much of the news so maybe I'm out of the loop and being thick, but I thought India was a red list country requiring hotel quarantine 9n arrival in the uk? Or have the only just suddenly slipped India on the list?

Mind you, it only takes a few folk from India travelling into other countries not on our red list (or vice versa), starting the spread, and then someone else travelling between the UK and second country.

Lad I work with travelled to and from Nigeris via Turkey for work purposes. Madness imho
23 April a month too late...

Hospital figures - 9 deaths were announced today, down 1 on yesterday and down 3 on last Friday. 7 deaths were in English hospitals, down 2 on yesterday and down 5 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 9.57

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 17 deaths were announced today, up 6 on yesterday and up 2 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average rises to an even 10

For the 60 day cut off, 38 deaths were announced today, up 14 on yesterday and up 6 on last Friday. The 7 day rolling average rises to 24.14

They're slightly worried about the Indian variant hence the reduction of the gap between both vaccines by four weeks. A good, strong response is a positive!

This is where I disagree - the country dont seem arsed about those under 40 more delays in the younger getting vaccinated = more cases as they are the ones most likely to socialise when restrictions are eased.

Think its stupid tbh

Speaking as somebody who has 3 children and a Wife under the age of 40, I can assure you that they have been socialising for a few months now.

Are they more likely to get seriously ill or potentially die from the virus?

I just think when we are "all in this together" and all ages groups have made sacrifices over the last 12 months it shouldn't be screw the young ones you aint getting a jab (I say this as having a healthy 33 year old mate who was hospitalised with blood clots in his lungs from Covid a few months back).

If the vaccines supply increase by all means but its suicide opening up in June with the under 30's still not given even 1 jab.

Imagine a saturday night in Concert Square or in major cities without restrictions man.

Well, the pub was absolutely packed tonight, obviously no one inside, but we must have had 150-200 outside. I think we should just keep the inside closed tbh.....
I hope you’ve got a telly outside for the footy and a bbq on the go..
Absolutely rake it in you would.

I was at a boozer for Bournemouth away that had the best outside set up I’ve ever seen to hammer match day trade. This was pre pandemic as well obviously. Bet they are smashing it right now.
