This is where we need to balance. It will never go away fully, no matter what we do. However with deaths being low hopefully in future, it must be weighed up versus millions losing jobs and ending up in poverty, as we know suicide rates will then increase.

Definitely. Its important to remember that somewhere around 600,000 people die per year in the UK. Obviously if there starts to be major issues with hospital admissions etc restrictions will be needed but that can't be based on a small increase in positive tests.

The UK has one of the lowest positive % in the world at the moment.

You are forgetting the fact that the general public will simply not tolerate another full lockdown. No chance.
The vast majority of people will have been fully vaccinated by the summer. That gives circa 95% protection against serious illness and death. Life has to go on now. You screaming doom & gloom on here everyday might give you the attention you clearly crave but it's over davek start to deal with it. Yes people will become infected. Yes they might be ill but the very high probability is that they will not die. Another third, full on lockdown is not happening.

If you look at Seftons daily rates, there was one day with a huge number of new cases, which looks like it could have been a back dated number added on.

However, I do think there is a small increase in infections creeping in. I do not though think we will lockdown again.

I could possibly see the restriction easing for May 17th being delayed.

It needs reversing. No indoor dining or drinking. That would help massivley take the steam out of any surge later.

Its already been confirmed that these businesses are opening. These businesses do not make money on outdoor dining or drinking and if that continued in the long term millions will be out of work.

That's the type of country we live in. That's how far away from crank decisions we are that can cause surges.

If there is a spike in Liverpool after these scab activities you can be sure of one thing: the scum who agreed to them like Rotheram and Ashton (who were in cahoots causing the winter disaster in Liverpool) will disappear. Success has many fathers, failure is an orphan.

You gleefully predicted the proles storming the gates and jumping off tower blocks to get into the festival in Sefton Park and a tsunami of infections afterwards, all because the Tory Poodle Rotherham was bending over for the Tory shilling ?

Well here we are nearly 2 weeks later and there was no surge after these events.

So now we have you moving on from screaming about these live events, to screaming about one area of Liverpool where there`s been a surge of infections and you predicting end of days ( yet again )

You need a fresh approach Dave, as there`s only so many times you can cry wolf, before people stop listening.

All the pubs and restaurants by me, that haven`t opened yet are all getting ready ( decorating / last minute refurbs ) for next Monday.

Err you do know the FDA is a US body yes? That this ruling doesn’t apply to the UK?

As for why we would vaccinate teenagers it is because, although they rarely die of covid, they can suffer serious side effects including long covid. They can also spread the virus to teachers, parents and grandparents - some of which may be immune suppressed. The vaccines have a very good safety record so many parents will welcome the option to vaccinate their kids although I’m guessing you aren’t one!

Yes I appreciate the FDA is a US body but where one country goes others seem to follow. I think the vaccines are safe enough but just can't see the case for kids on the grounds you suggest is strong enough to warrant such intervention.

There is no "winding up". It's my opinion and the opinion of many other people inside and outside the medical profession.

The vaccines wont work for everyone. What % of the population it doesn't work on is the only matter to be determined.

Honestly, there is some clownish attempt to avoid all serious discussion on th subject because people can see the indoors of an ale house beckoning.

I get people want a breather. We all do. But just know this: we will be in lockdown again, it's an absolute certainty.

We're in a pandemic and not enough is being done by government, not -as you claim - too much. We need to seal borders and maintain social distancing and mask wearing in indoor settings. And the hospitality industry needs to be outdoor only.

As for vaccinating under 18s: babies and kids are used to them. Why are you suggesting it's extraordinary to vaccinate the young?

If there`d been mass infection at these events, we`d know about it by now.

People won`t accept it mate and the government know this.

I`m not saying there`d be civil disobedience, but there`d be mass ignoring of the rules, especially surrounding friends and family.
