While I take the point, there's actually hardly any chance of eradicating COVID totally anyway.

That's not because of anti-vaxxers, as much as it's nice to be able to pin blame on people. It's a respiratory illness which is going to keep coming and going, especially in winter, in one form or the other. It's not going away now, it's here to stay.

It doesn't appear to be seasonal which is one of the things that differentiates it from standard flu. The only reason it would become more contagious in Winter is because of more people in closer proximity indoors. You'd hope this would be mitigated by mask wearing and social distancing come Winter,but from the number of nutcases around I sadly doubt it.

Well yep, more time spent indoors etc, but ultimately not much we can do about that other than masks in public places and vaccines

You can make any graph look really scary if you set the Y-axis low enough. That’s a seven-day average of 4.1 new cases per 100,000 people.

But they have a population of 126,300,000 so 4.1 per 100,000 is a scary number of over 5,000 per day...for the 9th May they had 6,578 daily cases......

Well it is hard. We're sociable creatures, so the best bet is the vaccines plus lighter restrictions if needed

To be fair, hours implies simply more than one so for the restaurant point I agree with @davek.

With regards to onions, a couple would mean 2 and some would be 3 or more.

Largely due to it being a novel virus so everybody was susceptible to it initially.

It will likely start showing a seasonal pattern.

They dont know yet. They are working on a combo flu/covid booster jab though.
