US breakthrough cases as reported by CDC, not sure of there is equivalent reporting for Uk

It does say also in that piece that "..reported vaccine breakthrough cases will represent an undercount. This surveillance system is passive and relies on voluntary reporting from state health departments which may not be complete."
But the figures are encouragingly low at this stage.
We'll see how the vaccines perform in the usual repsiratory infection season.
Also, the report concludes: "CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people continue take steps to protect themselves and others in many situations, like wearing a mask, maintaining an appropriate social distance from others, avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, and washing their hands often."
These vaccines can only help if we work WITH them and adopt a very cautious approach - something our "It's over!" Pollyanna cohort on here dont seem to get...or want to get.

Japan has generally dealt with COVID well - I don’t know if it is variants or just fatigue but cases (whilst nowjere near as bad as in many countries last year) are increasing again

Console yourself, with the fact that you’ll still be able to man your 24 hr Covid help line, for the worried well, the cranks and the likeminded pandemic remainers like yourself.
Plus you can always release those virus ridden bats you’ve been saving for an emergency and kick the whole thing off again.
