No, not really. He was certainly making the case for redistribution of vaccines to the global south, but he was quoting numbers from US health sources that we'd see just short of 1 million deaths worldwide this month alone, and I dont think he was using it as a way of persuading people here to let go of a third vaccine.
In that case he/they were making massive assumptions on the amount of people dying without being tested. He possibly/probably is right. But they are not confirmed covid deaths nonetheless

I don't even think they should be shortened, no problem with them being careful really.
I think that the goal is to only go forward and once things open they won't be reversed unless necessary.

A bit like the travel lists. Spain and Greece will be the main holiday destinations. No point letting people travel and then having to change things. I think that therw is a good chance that they will be on the green list by the school holidays. That's over 10 weeks away.

Taking the lid off is easy, putting it back on would be a complete nightmare.

Let's hope none of those hospitalised have had their jabs or we're all in trouble.

The indoor re-opening of pubs and restaurants in 9 days time cant go ahead if there's a major outbreak of this variant.

It could be another utter catastrophe to place on top of two other catastrophes.
Dave:
Genuine question.
What are you going to do once this pandemic is finally over?

Let's see how hard you're laughing in a few months.

I think/hope we should be ok. Infections will inevitably rise, but unless sommet awful crops up, the deaths and hospitalisations will be ok. (christ, that sounds callous, but you get the point)

We have had schools open for weeks, the Easter holidays, relaxing of essential shops, and so far, so good.

But if anyone thinks this means all good to go next week, personally, I will still be very wary.

I am very wary of the prospects of keeping a lid on this with those two dates (May 17th and 21st June) coming into view.

I think we'll begin to see just how well the vaccines are coping after 2 months of pretty much old normal.
