Certainly as a year late, short term and limited (as in all they'll be doing is knocking on doors and seeing if people are in) scheme this appears to be crap. There is also a lot of vagueness around the cost and how many checks they'll actually be responsible for doing - the communique says that the checks will be "in addition to" the ones already carried out by cops (1000 a day), but never says how much Mitie will.

A properly established and resourced (and genuinely NHS) test and trace system could have done this far more effectively of course, combining the checks with the tests that need to be carried out, and offering support / advice when needed - and thats on top of acting as an early warning system to pick up new variants / new diseases.

It's a banana republic. All we're short of is The Butcher formally taking on the title of El Presidente and this place could be anywhere in Latin America in the 1970s.

That's what over a decade of this Tory scum gets you: a brazen period of snouts in the trough and no accountability for anyone in public life.

I put it down to the fact he was obviously in a great deal of discomfort and he was also having to supervise his missus, whilst she went up the chimney and stripped all the valuable stuff out of the obsolete Dysons, in his Dyson mine.

137,805 cases according to the graph on the website, but the previous number I posted when you add up the deaths and recoveries then take away the cases.

Tbf all those numbers would likely go up quite a bit if you were in an area that had a bad outbreak
