It's exploiting a national crisis to hand cash out to private business. They are, even in the teeth of a deadly pandemic, determined to push their ideological madness onto the people of this country.

There wouldn't be enough lamposts in this country to deal with the people who need dealing with; those who have acted corruptly. Traitors...and the very people who wrap themselves in a flag as they profit from a catastrophe.

Certainly as a year late, short term and limited (as in all they'll be doing is knocking on doors and seeing if people are in) scheme this appears to be crap. There is also a lot of vagueness around the cost and how many checks they'll actually be responsible for doing - the communique says that the checks will be "in addition to" the ones already carried out by cops (1000 a day), but never says how much Mitie will.

A properly established and resourced (and genuinely NHS) test and trace system could have done this far more effectively of course, combining the checks with the tests that need to be carried out, and offering support / advice when needed - and thats on top of acting as an early warning system to pick up new variants / new diseases.

Dont forget their population numbers.. Its a relatively small infection percentage.

FYI when Pakistan and Bangladesh were added to the red list for UK travel (announced on April 2nd) their COVID cases per million were at 3091.5 (Pak) and 3792 (Ban). India then was at 8979 cases per million.

As of yesterday, India are at 10,198 cases per million - still three times more than Pakistan and more than twice as much as Bangladesh. The situation in India is demonstrably much worse than it is in nearby countries (even Sri Lanka, which isn't on the red list, is at less than half the Indian rate), both in terms of confirmed cases and deaths.

We are running a consultation on making Covid vaccination a condition of deployment in older adult care homes to protect those most at risk in our society.

The consultation closes on 21 May.

Have your say: https://t.co/ym1jnDnLvl

Interesting that the government are looking at basically making the vaccine mandatory for care workers.
