Another private company bung from the governemnt announced today: this lot will be given tens of millions to chase down people supposed to be self-isolating and make sure they are.

When will the penny drop that local authorities should be given this cash as they have the greater expertise of the area and motive to keep them safe?

Corrupt scum.

Gyms here on 10 May, yet they will have been open in England a month. No hospitality can open here, even outside until 10 May. But it's open everywhere else in the UK for a few weeks.

Things have improved a lot in the last couple of months and we are now in Spring. I don't get any of this.

You can tell how bent that deal is by how many times the official communique refers to "NHS Test and Trace":

This is despite the staff being employed by Mitie, and the Home Office apparently paying for it as part of its border checks regime.

These people are some of the real heroes of the pandemic. They have saved countless lives. It's very important to remember that.

Let's hope the majority get other roles in the company.
I can't honestly remember if Asda is still part of Walmart, but I spoke with Walmart a few weeks ago and they were big on that kind of thing, so hopefully they will be found other roles.

It's exploiting a national crisis to hand cash out to private business. They are, even in the teeth of a deadly pandemic, determined to push their ideological madness onto the people of this country.

There wouldn't be enough lamposts in this country to deal with the people who need dealing with; those who have acted corruptly. Traitors...and the very people who wrap themselves in a flag as they profit from a catastrophe.

Is this the Mitie they handed the contract to?

A company previously employed to provide sarnies and clean wards in hospitals are now supposed to be experts in track and trace?

FFS, this government need obliterating.

They've recently been purchased by the company who own the petrol stations. Owned by 2 quite young men from Blackburn.

Yeah it's partly because of additional costs. I think I heard that turnover/sales went up for Tesco but profits still fell about 25%.

Businesses have spent a lot of money on safety measures etc, and there are a lot of other costs that have risen over the last 12-15 months.

I'm sure I seen that with Tesco etc some of the other parts of the business are performing a lot worse than normal like their insurances, the petrol stations etc which also have had an impact.
