Covid a big change in hospital care imo the use of day wards ......fine if everything goes ok obviously used to be sent home - I had a bad set back- blood everywhere they forgot of tried to not insert a caviter - the surgeon was called back to fit one he left me one with a tap so I could pee......
An experienced nurse his before leaving stayed that's useless have me various bags and Velcro straps as she predicted using the plastic tap to urinate minimal use it would leak .....she was spot on.......my poor wife had to read the booklets etc late on ....to which a bag for The overnight urine .....
The district nurse came next day to clean me up dried blood everywhere dirty straps egg horrified, but not surprised as Covid 19 is a hospitals priority not to.move patients with setbacks to permanent wards event though I was told an overnight stay was inevitable taking in all your overnight stay clothes in she just laughed, and stated it's a joke of a system, as she was fed up in her job seeing patients of my type who needed at least a four day stay, but then she stated to me safer at home in my bubble than at risk on a ward even though the caviter would cause me pain plus travelling back to the day ward in 4-5 days for its removal......or inspection.......
I think.this is the future necessary, but far more pain due to Covid......for minor to mix surgery imo.......as not one patient stayed in overnight .....yet Like me had a bag of everything......
On the plus side she stated it's a bit push to get serious test done to get the massive backlog moving hopefully Covid free.....
I have suffered tremendous pain my wife for bless her is doing a nurse's job .....
She has just showered me dressed me in lose clothing - I type this post lying on my back in bed hoping the pain will ease .....
