@Deckard2049 seems more states are trying to make a push

Shot and beer? So much for a big push for healthier lifestyles... but I suppose one beer won’t do much harm :pint2:

I was going to ask but then saw your later post about hesitancy across certain areas and states- with a particular focus on rural places. You do wonder what plans/ incentives local governments will come up with to combat this. I still imagine there are plenty of people though whose minds are made up and a free beer won’t change that. $500 on the other hand might, but it’s a question of how far can you push it.

$100 dollars for a specific demographic as in West Virginia (side note, can anyone else not think MOUNTAIN MAMA, when they hear West Virginia?) is one thing. I even half joked myself that a little vaccine bonus for the youth here wouldn’t go amiss, but surely you don’t want to get into a situation where people essentially blackmail the authorities into paying them to get vaccinated.

The US must have huge quantities of excess vaccine. It does appear as though they have a larger hesitancy problem than the U.K. although we will discover more in the next 2 months when the younger cohorts can get their jabs. I know I will be taking mine when offered

Pretty much.

You know that text you got a few months back, due to your age/health/circumstances for your first jab in the killing fields?

Largely down down to her bringing it all together.

Largely down to her, eh? How so?

And we have wanderd so far from the point on this: ho is she proving the Liverpool pilot scheme wasn't a canary in the coal mine event again?

Yeah on the one hand it is worth quite a lot to the community to nudge those that are on the fence on whether they get it or not to roll up their sleeve but on the other you don’t want it to get to a stage where people are “I’ll wait and see what they offer me before I get any vaccine”.

A combo of taking the vaccine to where people already are for other reasons (vaccine stall just outside Goodison prior to match for instance) and smallish bribes will hopefully work to get some numbers up but more rural areas will definitely be a challenge.

Thats the square I struggle to circle. Or the other way round.

Doing test events, then following the data for a week or two after, is relatively simple. But the jump from what, 8000 in Wembley, all tested and tagged, so to speak, to 90000 seems a long time off.

I mean, there are super positive signs all things vax, and as the science develops, maybe some assistance will come from the labs. But as of now, caution and being realistic are the watchwords.
The real problem is the flat earth antivaxxers. They don't believe Covid is a dangerous virus, they won't wear masks or socially distance. While they continue to mix in society there is little chance of eradicating Covid totally.

While I take the point, there's actually hardly any chance of eradicating COVID totally anyway.

That's not because of anti-vaxxers, as much as it's nice to be able to pin blame on people. It's a respiratory illness which is going to keep coming and going, especially in winter, in one form or the other. It's not going away now, it's here to stay.

I'm sure it will,my post was in relation to the present situation and the opening up of social situations without spikes in infection levels. Take a quick look at Facebook pages like UK Column News and there are thousands who blame everything from God to Gates for a conspiracy to turn them into imprisoned drones. They are committed to carrying on life without any precautions.

Maybe, but not all of them.
The financial industry in general revels in the anonymity and opaqueness of off-shore activities.
Brexit has got them out of pulling up the blinds.
"Off-shore activities" lol Good lord. We're not the Virgin Islands ffs.

But in all seriousness, any bank situated in the UK has to comply with EU regulations regardless of whether we're in the EU or not if they want to do business there. Brexit is terrible for the financial industry, as not only is there no financial free trade agreement, but they now have to deal with two separate regulatory frameworks for the foreseeable future.
