"Officials at the press conference gave little detail on what could be behind the infection surge other than to say people were taking fewer precautions against the virus than before and the surge may be due to celebrations after Easter."

The reason we need to see the idiot May 17th indoor openings of pubs and restaurants stopped.

We will see a huge surge here before the end of May.

Make your mind up, first it was the Summer, then it was the Autumn, now it’s the end of May.

Talk about covering your bases lol

The UK is opening up slowly and cautiously.

We've got lowest case, death, and hospitalisation rates since last summer yet the 'roadmap' is being stuck to.

There's no evidence that, here in the UK, anything is going to surge. We still have 11 days until the next stage of the reopening.

Just take a day off ffs

What happens May 17th onward? That's a massive gear change.

Super news mate, I had heard May for results and June for approval and all seems on track.

The world could do with a third RNA. I can see the big blocks like the States and EU relying soley on RNA’s going forward. Were Curevac might have an edge is the stability and lack of a severe cold chain on the other two and if it’s like the other two, won’t need the 12 week spacing of an AZ. Have sneaky feeling, this might give Curevac a bit of an edge especially getting doses around the developing world efficiently and quickly.

I’m delighted for them as they are real ground breakers in the area of RNA development, if they had the resources of a Pfizer & Moderna, or the EU had shown a bit more faith in backing their development I suspect they would have been to market with the other two RNA’s.

We see what happens and if something bad happens then we'll probably see those restrictions tighten - possibly back to outdoor seating only etc.

It all depends on the data.

Until we have it, we don't know.

The good news is that, unlike last year, we aren't going into this with no protection. 50m people in the UK have had a jab. Almost 16m of those people have had both doses - and those are the most vulnerable either because they're elderly, have underlying problems or are frontline NHS workers.

So the vaccines offer that extra protection so that we aren't getting massive amounts of hospitalisations and/or deaths while we see how opening up slowly and cautiously goes.
