Unfortunately after all this is over the debt is gonna be so large then more austerity is going to have to be the case.
And as much as I hate the cuts of the last 10 years, it turns out they are what are giving us some wiggle room here.

They can spread the debt over 40 years. Looks bad in the accounts, but in reality, it will repaid like we repaid the US for their post WW2 "help"

Tories done very well today. That press conference was excellent. And, as much as it kills me to say it, Boris Johnson came into his own there and came across brilliantly. Just what was needed.

Exactly mate. I’m a labour supporter and a genuine tory bad mouther however today what they are doing is greater than I could ever imagine. It’s an immense moment in our history which if they follow through will keep them in number 10 for years and years to come.

Pretty much agree with this. They’ve been far too slow, and Boris is a chancer and proven liar, who, to me looks completely shell-shocked. But, they’ve generally gone with the expert medical advice, and have just taken the drastic economic steps needed to stop the country tanking. Rishi Sunak seems competent and statesmanlike, far more so than the guy he’s next to.

People can't put their political allegiances aside mate.

Labour need to start supporting now and stop whinging. I've got nothing against an opposition party pushing the government but now its time for them all to get a grip and work through this.

Apparently if any dies at home they do not do retrospective coronavirus tests, which may affect the numbers reported.....

Looks like it. As far as I know Germany is the only country that only counts deaths if you had no prior health problems/issues. But that is quite misleading as the majority of everyone over 60 has some health problem in one form or another.

Ah, so they're twisting the figures then. Why? What a stupid thing to do in this case when it's so important the right information is available.
