I think that's fine (France saying that). No harm in waiting for more evidence.

But Macron said "it could be quasi-ineffective"

That isn't the same.
I haven't found the original quote in French, however if he did use the conditional of the verb it does express a degree of uncertainty. Not stating a fact.

Just seen that Boris is stating we're at risk due to the incompetence across the EU. Is this just a comment to criticise ths EU or is there any evidence?

The way I see it is we have just had the wave first and they are now having their wave.

I do think that some European nations should stop playing politics and focus on saving lives.

Johnson: 3rd wave effect from continent expected here in weeks.

There is absolutly no way that this economy/society can open up as planned. It would turn into a wild fire, and would represnt the 3rd disaster this government had initiated in 15 months.

"The real problem on AstraZeneca is that it doesn’t work the way we were expecting it to," Macron told a group of reporters, including POLITICO, in Paris. "We’re waiting for the EMA [European Medicines Agency] results, but today everything points to thinking it is quasi-ineffective on people older than 65, some say those 60 years or older."

Will try and find the quote in French. I was paraphrasing off the top of my head.

He also stressed that the vaccine roll out is still the key thing to fighting it.

On target to have all the over 50s and clinically vulnerable offered their first dose by April 15th.

By then we'll probably have about 5m fully vaccinated too.

Stop wanting lockdown to carry on Dave, it's friggin weird.

Don't see the problem in countries banning exports of medicines, any national government can and should act in the best interest of the people who democratically put them there.

And as you can see from link below, the UK was very quick in announcing a very comprehensive and updated list of export bans on many medications known to be beneficial in managing poorly people with COVID.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but it sets a precedent going forwards!

I don't think he's said that?

And the outcome of this is French people are not getting vaccines and are going into a strict lock down again, because the UK medical Agency are suddenly untrustworthy well done
Not all France. The regions île de France and hauts de France only.
However thousands of them did a bunk last Friday, day before the lock down started. Now spread all over rural areas of the country.

Boris Johnson has warned the effects of a third wave of coronavirus will "wash up on our shores" from Europe.
The PM said the UK should be "under no illusion" we will "feel effects" of growing cases on the continent.
His comments come amid a row over Covid vaccine supplies, after the president of the European Commission warning the EU could "forbid" doses made in the bloc from being exported to the UK.
EU leaders will hold a virtual meeting on Thursday to discuss their plans.
German officials confirmed the PM spoke to Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday - and the BBC understands he also spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron - about the ongoing issue, which would affect exports of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine made in Europe.
Mr Johnson said he "talked to EU friends repeatedly" during the pandemic and had been "reassured... over the last few month they don't want to see blockades".
Downing Street also said the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, had told Mr Johnson earlier this year that the EU was not intending to restrict exports of vaccines.
Earlier, her chief spokesman, Eric Mamer, insisted that Brussels was not seeking to ban vaccine exports, but wanted pharmaceutical firms to meet their contractual obligations to the bloc.
Mr Mamer said: "In that context, the president has said that, of course, we see that, actually, companies that manufacture doses in the EU have been exporting very widely - which is in itself a good thing - but that we want to see reciprocity and proportionality in these exports."
The latest flashpoint appears to be over doses made in a Dutch factory.
Asked if he was worried about the row, Mr Johnson told reporters: "I am reassured by talking to EU partners over the last few months that they don't want to see blockades."
But he went on to issue a warning about what the growing infections in Europe could mean for the UK.
The PM said: "On the continent right now you can see, sadly, there is a third wave under way.
"And people in this country should be under no illusions that previous experience has taught us that when a wave hits our friends, I'm afraid it washes up on our shores as well."
He added: "I expect we will feel those effects in due course. That's why we're getting on with our vaccination programme as fast as we can."

Well one way to stop it washing up on our shores is to close the borders. Stop all international traffic.

Meanwhile U.K. 7 day average for new cases 5449 and static ....Germany 13,023 and growing....France 30,134 and growing very quickly....Italy 21,891 static/falling...Poland 21,703 growing quickly....Hungary (with a population of 1/6th of U.K.) 7,872 and growing.

I hope to god we keep the lid on the U.K. numbers.....
Are all these countries testing the same amount as uk if not case numbers them self don't mean alot uk doing about 1.5 million a day would be better to give the numbers as a percentage of people tested .

It'll still hit, though.

Aren't Germany's borders shut? France's?

The UK's are as 'shut' as they'll ever be. There's still going to be planes landing and boats in port and lorries coming in, with goods that are needed, so you can't 'stop all international traffic' - nowhere has.
