Certainly not, he’s our best friend, would do anything to help the U.K........
Final comment on Macron.
I am no fan of his, he is imo a capitalist stooge who gained office through a big mispresentation as being a centrist.
But re the AZ thing, initially he only repeated the scientific consensus that not enough data was available to sanction the stuff for the very old age group.
The blood clot scare was started by the Norwegians and then picked up by a a lot of other countries.
Don't let Macron become the bête noir and scapegoat to take pressure off UK gov.

The EU money was to purchase the vaccine - not develop it.

'The European Commission put up a €336 million ($396 million) down payment to secure its first 300 million doses of AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford's coronavirus hopeful, AZD1222, a Commission spokesperson told Reuters Thursday.'
The UK has done the same with the French made Valneva vaccine, put £90 odd million up front to developed it, the chairman has said they took the risk at the beginning so are rightly getting the vaccine first.
Macron will be happy about that, begs the question of what was he doing while a French company had this on offer.

Think that's downplaying it a bit.

The scientifc consensus was that there wasn't enough sure-fire evidence so they waited for more test results and real world results (even though IMO there was more than enough testing done (and the EMA agreed) and it was weird how the issue only arose at the same time that AZ-EU had their disagreement).

Macron didn't just repeat that, though. He said it was "quasi-ineffective for over 65s", which is not at all what the reason behind the issue was, and wasn't the scientific consensus.

I don't think he's some evil mastermind like or that he was even doing it to increase popularity by 'British bashing'. But it was an incredibly stupid comment, and he's now got the AZ jab in a calculated PR move

The vaccine roll out is going well in the UK. The only pressure is to keep it up as best as possible. We know there's going to be a delay now and let's hope that the EU don't ban exports because that would be a bad move for all parties involved - it'd be crap for the UK, it'd make the EU look like tits, and nobody would ultimately benefit.

Funny isn't it? France says the trial didn't have enough old folk and so wait for data showing that it's safe in old folk -> all hell breaks loose. America conducts additional trials so that American people were included before signing it off -> yeah that's fine.

I think that's fine (France saying that). No harm in waiting for more evidence.

But Macron said "it could be quasi-ineffective"

That isn't the same.

And the outcome of this is French people are not getting vaccines and are going into a strict lock down again, because the UK medical Agency are suddenly untrustworthy well done

So the EU are considering banning exports of the AZ vaccine to the UK in order to ensure they have enough of their own supplies, but we are seeing pictures of empty chairs at German vaccination centres because apparently 55% of their population don’t want it. So do they want to use the AZ vaccine or just keep plenty of it in the fridge, unused? You couldn’t make it up really.

Is there a media hate campaign against the president of the French Republic?
He is a capitalist stooge no doubt, but hardly has the power to orchestrate the chaos some people give him credit for.
French version of Tony Blair... Played a blinder with vaccine with French electorate.

Just need to think of a way how to influence the French, maybe economic and political union...

125,000 dead people in the UK so far might disagree with you if they were alive to do so.
A year ago we were being told by Boris it would be over in 12 weeks, and 20,000 dead would be a good outcome
