Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Good news, hopefully this puts an end to these silly delays.

It was always essentially politically motivated using smaller legitimate ongoing concerns largely as an excuse to deflect.

The fact the AZ vaccine is already hugely unpopular makes the audacious attempt to compel the UK Astra Zeneca sites to export UK government allocated stocks hard to fathom, it perhaps shows just how much it's politically motivated.

Essentially Von der Leyen is trying to show a disgruntled, frustrated and suspicious European audience she's doing something after the mounting criticism from all quarters. It's unfounded nationalistic posturing matched by threats against multinationals backed by might and sanctions.

She's slipping along a greasy path to the type of tyrannical behaviour associated with undemocratic centrally ruled big brother states. She's turning into Europe's version of Putin.

That is quite out there mate, the EMA never recommended a pause - in fact the opposite. Many EU countries never paused, while a few sovereign EU nations took their own decision. Outside of the EU many countries also paused it, Norway, Canada, Indonesia, Thailand to name a few - its an international health alert system the concern was raised through. The UK has also investigated it. What any of that has to do with UVL, im not sure, who incidentally was hinting at export bans because she couldn't get her hands on the stuff yesterday.

Cant under estimate the deflection this Government and it supporters need in making the EU look bad, not only with our dead from COVID also Brexit mess.

I never once said the EMA recommended pausing. The action Von der Leyen took included threats to block exports, extraordinary measures to override property rights and seize factories etc.

Her language clearly spelled out and threatened vaccine trade wars, punitive action and offered a helping hand to the Covid virus. The whole tone across many European countries has been set and although national governments act autonomously the major ones speak to each other and tend do do so in unison.

As of next week in house school testing stops and kids are asked to do two at home per week alongside family members.

I suspect the number of positives will increase as will the number of tests.

I've never followed any particular party and will always make up my own mind about issues. I was supportive of remaining in the EU in 2016 especially as regards trade. However this thread is the Coronavirus mega thread not the UK trading or Brexit one, and there is a difference even if there may be some overlap in specific areas.

its not hard to criticise obvious faults and I don't see why I would have to support this government to do so, it's been very, very apparent to everyone no matter whether they're naturally supportive of the EU that their response has been extremely poorly managed, too top heavy, chaotic and pretty pathetic at best.

Because you think something or some organisation is generally on the right track it doesn't mean you keep silent when they clearly aren't
