Its getting speeded up Pete, check you normally get a date when you get the jab, here in Liverpool its down to 9 weeks now.

No, I specifically asked when we got the jab about the second one and they just said you will be contacted. Our GP is pretty good on all of this tbh so I’ll just wait for the call.....

In trials of the Pfizer vaccine, two doses were given three weeks apart and although a longer gap between doses works for healthy individuals, the researchers say cancer patients do not respond in the same way.

Nearly everyone who were affected by this decision (to delay the first Pfizer dose) were in the higher / highest risk groups - ie: those whose age and/or health meant that they weren’t healthy individuals.

Also, how do they know it works? There’s still not been any publicly released data from studies that can stand up saying that it lasts for twelve weeks.

A 12-week gap could leave those having two Pfizer jabs vulnerable to Covid-19, researchers suggest.

Again, no evidence. It's a warning, like all the other warnings earlier in the process which, while I obviously agree that it would have been ideal not to spread the Pfizer spacing out, what they were warning of hasn't come to pass.

Of course cancer patients - or people with other serious illnesses - will be more likely to be vulnerable to COVID, you'd imagine. That's going to be the same whenever they get the vaccine though and so it applies across the board.

If they had evidence to back up the suggestion - as in evidence of the vaccine spacing having cost lives - then fine. But they don't. So just like earlier in the process when heads were falling off over the 12 weeks of spacing, it's a warning at this stage. Let's hope - like with the rest of the roll out - what they're warning of doesn't come to pass.

General thing I believe, didn’t speak to a GP or anything - just got a letter from the NHS saying please book an appointment because records show you have vulnerable relatives

Still blagged how my mate got his - we assume he's a key worker as he works for Yorkshire water, so very occasionally has to go to people's houses.

Personally, reckon it's cause he put a picture on Facebook the other day wearing a mask and his head looked like a hock of ham.

Five countries suspend use of AstraZeneca vaccine​

Austria’s national medicines regulator has suspended use of a batch of the AstraZeneca vaccine after four patients were diagnosed with dangerous blood clotting conditions after receiving the jab, PA reports.
Four other countries - Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia - have suspended its use to allow time for the EMA’s Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) to conduct an investigation.
Europe’s medicines watchdog said a preliminary probe showed that the batch of vaccines used in Austria was not likely to blame for the death of a nurse, aged 49, who received a jab.
The nurse died of multiple thrombosis - formation of blood clots within blood vessels - 10 days after their vaccine, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said.
A second patient was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism - where blockages form in the arteries in the lungs - but is now recovering.
As of Tuesday, two other clotting conditions had been identified in patients that had received a dose from the same batch.
The EMA said there is currently no evidence that the vaccine caused the conditions, and that thrombosis is not listed as a potential side effect of the vaccine.
It said that the batch labelled ABV5300 comprised one million doses and had been delivered to 17 EU countries.

An odd response this - there’s clear evidence from that study there that they are less protected by just one dose than they are by two.

Saying “well, no ones died” instead of acknowledging that evidence is basically irrelevant - there might not be anyone counting whether people have died, and even if there is one would imagine the next line of defence from those backing what’s been done here will be “well, they had really bad cancer” anyway.

One also wonders how many warnings - from Pfizer themselves, the BMA and others - people need before they start to recognise the risk that’s been run here with many very vulnerable people’s lives.

Depends where it was manufactured and when. There may well be an issue with a particular batch, that’s why they have batch numbers. This particular batch will almost certainly have originated outside of the U.K. ....
