It's targeted at centres I know and people are asked if they have unpaid care (family or friends) and then questions are asked, to get a vaccine appointment. Much of the time the carer is with or nearby, many are on the list for appointment. Some have been unknowns and appointments made for vaccine.
General thing I believe, didn’t speak to a GP or anything - just got a letter from the NHS saying please book an appointment because records show you have vulnerable relatives

Thats similar to what I got. Mine was picked up cos I get Carers Allowance, so the DSS data base kicked in; heavens only knows what prompted yours, unless you get CA as well.

Well somewhere, someone has registered you as caring for someone vulnerable. Either the NHS or the DSS data base has been told!

If you book through the National system you'll be given a date for the second. Me and the missus are having ours today and the second around 20th May, so between 9 and 10 weeks. If done through your GP most are using their own systems to contact you again when your second is due. My understanding is that this is based on 12 weeks but that may change if supply exceeds demand I would imagine
If I had to guess, my grandad got his first jab not too long ago and has probably told someone I’ve been looking after him for the last year or so as he is quite vulnerable - just been getting his shopping etc

Did you get a letter and leaflet, or a text/call from your GP?
And when you tried to book an appointment, was it at a mass vax site, or more local? (GP surgery/town hall)

Same here, which was generated by the DSS system talking to the centralised NHS one. Like I didnt tell the NHS I was a registered carer, the DSS did. Must be the same for you.
Perhaps your Grand Father telling his GP about you helping him kinda prompted some records being updated, cos the DSS wouldnt have gone looking for folk, its all automated.
Makes the head spin a bit.

I know people who are younger than me who have been jabbed but haven’t questioned why. It is what it is.

That's interesting. My 31 yr old gf had her jab yesterday, we presume it's because she had TB when she was younger but apparently that's not on her record. But it can't be anything else. Wonder if I'll get something.
She said there were loads of 20-35 people there.

In trials of the Pfizer vaccine, two doses were given three weeks apart and although a longer gap between doses works for healthy individuals, the researchers say cancer patients do not respond in the same way.
Nearly everyone who were affected by this decision (to delay the first Pfizer dose) were in the higher / highest risk groups - ie: those whose age and/or health meant that they weren’t healthy individuals.
Also, how do they know it works? There’s still not been any publicly released data from studies that can stand up saying that it lasts for twelve weeks.
