Our main scientists said just yesterday we need to be careful. Read the article and see for yourself.

Wow be a brave politician wo goes against that advice.

Makes perfect sense.

Wonder what he meant by the vaccines not working, bit vague and open to subjective conjecture.

How long has it been since we could say positive stuff aout the states covid wise? 60 million jabs and 30 mill fully vaccinated with the Johnson jab potentially being a logistics gamechanger. Clever little policies like whoever is bringing the 75+ relative to the center can also get a jab, maximising roll out. Active and daily cases taking actual drops in figues and not just flattening out, hopefully with much more to come
It is so nice to actually have a competent president that actually cares to deal with this pandemic and find solutions so we can overcome this crisis instead of someone like Trump that denied the crisis, politicized the use of masks, and did nothing to come up with strategies to control the spread.

Biden's team has even gotten two pharma rivals to work together producing vaccines for the good of the country. Hopefully in the next few months the US will be in a better place so we can start helping the many poor nations that are currently lacking behind on vaccine distribution, because the reality is that for the virus to be fully under control we are going to have to make sure everyone around the world is vaccinated not just the wealthy nations.

That's what immediately took my attention.

I haven't seen it picked up on.

Could be anything really and I'm speculating here, but my first thoughts were, either the slip through of efficacy - we know the vaccines aren't 100% or could be slip through of the limited protection a one dose gives you or and hopefully not signal of double dose failure with a 12 week interval - unlikely as they would be changing tack now if that was the case.

I'm totally speculating about all that.

But like that's the thing that caught my eye, weird that he said it, with no clarity.

Worldometer puts the amount of closed cases at 26,819.

The vaccine is seemingly speeding these up, as in early Feb we had nearly two million active cases and these would decrease by 40,000 six days later. Now we are seeing half of that number daily, sometimes more. I think by May, we will have about 68,000 active cases the way the drop is going, possibly earlier.

I mentioned 68,000, as that is roughly one in 1,000 of the population carrying the virus. When we get to that figure, we should be feeling safe but also vigilant.

There are 761,448 active cases, but these should quickly eradicate seeing how quickly new variants are found and stamped down on, as well as the fact the vaccine and lockdown is having an effect, not to forget how fast this number drops every day.
