Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

Well, my re-reading of it is this: it doesn';t refer to any gap between 1st and 2nd jab; it refers to the possibility that - the older people are - for some, their immune systems just dont respond as they do for the younger (and when I say younger I dont mean 'young' young).

Its nothing to do with a 2nd dose.

Quite simply, not everyone will have an immune system that will respond to any jab. For flu, covid, polio, whatever.

And even if someone (the majority) have an immune system that will act "normally", it takes up to 3 weeks for the best level of protection anyrate.

This isnt new stuff.

If I remember correctly, we've done 1.5 million & 1.38 million tests and we've had PCR of under 0.5% on both of them, whereas before it was around 1.5-2.0% right, with about half the tests done right?
I'm not sure about specific numbers but you're right in your point.

The % that are testing positive is overall a more useful sign especially when the testing numbers vary so much week on week.

Whoa. I think we need to compare and contrast here. We have been told by experts and non-experts alike that the vaccines - at worst - will place a floor under the vulnerable and stop them falling too ill. Now no one expects that to be 100% for all who get one, but the implications was that 30,000 people could possibly perish and that those unvaccinated and those vaccinated but not responding to it woulkd be the bulk of the casualties. That is a bit of a jolt and NOT what we were told about.

Dave, that 30000 figure was posted as what could happen if we reopened too quickly, because Witty was asked what could happen if we did. We are not though.

He basically lobbed the CRG loons in the bin.

Yeah, but we were told (regardless of whatever happens in terms of lockdown timings) that the vaccinated vulnerable would be ok...hence the possibility of a return to something like 'normal'.

The Whitty remark (and non-repsonse to it) looked like political theatre in retrospect.

That's proven not to be the case though with the EU shortfall though mate.

It’s all in the contracts. Remember when the EU were going to take AZ to court over this...that’s gone very quiet because they know they were wrong. They are now acting like children screaming ‘but it isn’t fair’...pathetic.
