Yep. A gentle stroll in the park with a pal is one thing, festivals and large spectator sports are another.

I am no totally wed on the idea of 10000 fans for the final games of the season neither.

For one, it seems largely pointless, and for another, it could give an advantage to the home team.

edit. Although it could be argued that as a data collection exercise followed by a natural circuit break has legs, circa like the schools.
As with the proposal to play the Euros here, it's all designed to send out the message "UK plc is open for business".

Our main scientists said just yesterday we need to be careful. Read the article and see for yourself.

Schools etc will be the issue. You're misinformed if you think outdoor activity is a problem.

I've never said it would be a problem.

I'm just highlighting you saying its a fact that outdoor transmission is essentially zero and we should be following the science.

Which scientists are saying to open up outdoor pubs and restuarants now??

It is a fact that outdoor transmission is almost nothing. Even your article of choice essentially agrees with that. The majority of scientists don't want anything to open up as everything is a risk.

The simple fact that cannot be disputed is outdoor activities are by far the lowest risk.

So when you say follow the science you don't really mean it then.

Tiresome repetitive comments...

Obviously from a COVID perspective its best if we stay indoors forever but thats clearly not going to happen.

All of the SCIENCE shows that outdoor activity is the lowest risk.

Are you part of the lockdown forever viewpoint? If so then yes you're right lets stay indoors until we die to reduce the likelihood of a covid outbreak.

I'm not the one claiming facts. I'm prepared to follow the science.

Not part of no lockdown forever viewpoint, I'm just not making facts up and then saying follow the science to try and prove a point.

It's the mixing of people indoors is the bigger problem. So actually being out and about is relatively safer.
Exactly which is why I think Scotland's rules make sense. 4 people from 2 bubbles meeting outdoors is extremely low risk. Allowing people to mix outdoors reduces the likelihood of them meeting indoors instead.

The lockdown has been in place for 2 months and people are starting to take risks. If you allow lower risk activities you're reducing the likelihood of more risky events.

So when you say follow the science you actually mean follow the behavioral science?

So when you say follow the science you actually mean follow the behavioral science?

Combination of both.

Allowing by far the lowest risk activity to reduce the likelihood of illegal gatherings is a sensible decision. Everything I have read points towards outdoor activity being extremely low risk. If 1500 kids can mix at a school I really don't see why 4 people can't meet at an outdoor pub or restaurant.
