No. They tell you which one they have for that day/session. But not so you can say "No thanks", but what after care you need to do. AZ you leave straight after, but they suggest you dont drive for 10 minutes or so, the Pfizer one you have to stay for 15 minutes observation.

You waiting on a particular type is a bit weird if I am honest. You have no idea if the one you seem to hold a candle for will ever be at your GP surgery anyrate.
I'm just going to have to take what's there on the day. I was enquiring less on the efficacy which are (under a certain age range) all much of a much-ness. It was the after effects that interested me more. Heard a lot about the AZ effect of chills and fever; then again, the Pfizer second jab is supposed to be a jolt to the system.

I'll get it asap now, on reflection.

After effects, whilst unpleasant, seem to be a day only, and as a reassurance, its evidence the body is responding well.

From experience, I felt absolutely fine from getting the AZ jab in the morning to going to bed around 1AM, then woke up the next morning with dizziness and a headache for most of the day and nausea for like an hour or two plus a nerve problem in my forearm later in the week other than that I’ve been fine for the past 2 weeks

Yes, though I've seen conflicting claims on that.

Folk will react differently, thats how it happens. But the general held view is that "normal" side effects are no cause for concern. Thay ask you if have allergies for nuts and eggs before you get the jab, also, if you have had a covid test or any sign of it in the last few weeks.

There are nearly 25 million folk in the UK with a jab of some sort; I am sure if you search Twitter you will find someone whose testicles fell off though.

Possible side effects to all the vaccines ive heard, i had Pfizer and was grand after dose 1, floored for 2 days after does 2.

Have heard the same anecdotal impact and side effects on all the vaccines to be honest and its not everyone some people are grand.

Many here would say taking paracetamol in the hours after (if you can and not before) is a big help of staving of side effects. I was one of the first over here to get it first week of Jan - so no one gave the paracetamol and fluids advice when I was getting dosed.

I've read not to do that as it may curtail the effect of being vaccinated.

When you get the call/text, whatever vax they have, the surgery will advise you what and not to take before and after the jab.

The process is totally nailed. Just wait to be invited, which is what they quite charmingly call it, and go from there.

The advice i was given not to take anything before the vaccine. But the vaccination team said to me take it if you have any side effects. Anecdotally where i work they are taking it here now straight after the jab to stop getting side effects before they come. - that's just locally here (health service) and they are clinicians. themselves in the main

Prob best advice is do what you are told.

Thanks. I didn't realise they gave advice on dos and donts.

The simple fact of the matter is I think the whole thing has been managed diabolically - and now NHS staff have been offered a 1% rise, I would tell them where to stuff it. The government pissed down 500million on track and trace to some Irish company, on top of all the other millions wasted and they insult nurses with this

In terms of covid I think first and foremost the elderly or people with underlying health should be put first, they make up 99% of cases so I don’t think it’s fair to penalise an entire country and basically bring it to its knees and destroy an entire economy

No one, absolutely no one was going mental when almost 100k died of the flu between 2016 and 2017 - there was no scaremongering and 24/7 news updated on deaths per region and propaganda, and the country was not crippled to death (literally)

Taiwan, Thailand and Japan – and probably many more nations with millions are not in the situation the UK is in – at all

Thailand and Taiwan have about 100 Million people and just as many deaths. Japan has about 130 Million people and 16 people under 40 died of covid.

What is not helping the UK is obesity IMO, its almost 20Million people – that is actually close enough to the population of Taiwan itself which is frankly scary.

People can say what they like but they need to accept that its people in this category along with the elderly which are most vulnerable so in essence you could say its not a covid 19 problem but one with society itself.
