thanks for that - I got bored trying to point out how many we could have had fully vaccinated (we'd be second, by a long way)
The NHS are doing a terrific job, I’m delighted they have been given the opportunity to shine with the vaccine rollout, I know there is huge political capital in vaccine roll out, but it’s the one piece of the management of this the UK has nailed and I think that is down to the NHS. They deserve huge credit.
You can do a quick calculation really, 15 million doses divided by 2, as a percentage of the UK population, - somewhere just north or South of 10% I think, if they went the two dose route. Comfortably second.
There was an interesting piece in the guardian I saw around the speed of vaccine purchasing and negotiation. Apparently deals were done between governments and big pharma to waiving civil liability by big pharma with the governments who have rolled out early. I wouldn’t be to concerned about it, but interesting on rights and civil liberties none the less.
Brexit Britain's victory over the EU on Covid vaccination is not what it seems | Jean Quatremer
The bloc’s joint vaccines strategy – far from being a fiasco – is delivering a better outcome than the UK’s, says Jean Quatremer, Brussels correspondent of Libération
