The NHS are doing a terrific job, I’m delighted they have been given the opportunity to shine with the vaccine rollout, I know there is huge political capital in vaccine roll out, but it’s the one piece of the management of this the UK has nailed and I think that is down to the NHS. They deserve huge credit.

You can do a quick calculation really, 15 million doses divided by 2, as a percentage of the UK population, - somewhere just north or South of 10% I think, if they went the two dose route. Comfortably second.

There was an interesting piece in the guardian I saw around the speed of vaccine purchasing and negotiation. Apparently deals were done between governments and big pharma to waiving civil liability by big pharma with the governments who have rolled out early. I wouldn’t be to concerned about it, but interesting on rights and civil liberties none the less.

Armed forces Local Authority NHS, no particular order... Also many volunteers are making this happen, the much maligned "state".

No cronyism to line pockets, unlike PPE track and trace app "operation moonshite".

Just people in the state finally being allowed to get on with its job, serving its community.

Similar to AZ but better... Although the Russians dont abide to the same rules and regulation (Safety), unlike its cohorts in pharmacy operating from the west. even with emergency easing of regulations, I doubt they are as "liberal" as Russia.

Beautiful graph, VDL and Brussels will be most pleased. Meanwhile 15 Million Brits are feeling a little bit more secure because of the U.K. strategy of purchase, manufacture and rollout....
Agreed. More and more research coming out daily which proves the UK was right in its approach. 1 vaccination is saving countless lives.

Have you had a jab yet ?

nope

My point, pete, was that thanks to our vaccine procurement strategy we could possibly have been second on that table, with between 2 and 5 million fully vaccinated people (the vagueness is down to how many Pfizer first does have been given; it’s at least two million but could be a lot higher than that).

Instead, as you know, we’ve ignored the manufacturers guidance as part of a giant experiment, using the most vulnerable people in society (except Johnson’s dad, and the likes of Murdoch, who’ve had the jabs properly).

Don't think I'd have the Russian one until they trial it fully in the West. Reports here in GER that the data they provided to the Lancet has holes in it.

I am not disagreeing at all with this point or the concerns about the dubious choice to enlarge the time period between doses for the Pfizer vaccine.

However, it would be interesting to see a comparison between the same nations and the % of the population who'd received at least one dose.

Whether that's a good strategy or not is something we're all waiting to see - hopefully it is.

The thing that struck me was how happy everyone seemed to be. Now I get a flu jab every year, we queue up, get the jab, thank the nurse and leave. The Covid jab was different somehow, people queuing up were really excited, the thanks being given to the nurses was way more than normal, and people were saying thank you to everyone on the way out, those directing the way out, car park attendees, everyone. There was genuine relief and happiness......

we are second in that, but we’d still be second or third with 10-13 million vaccinated (which is how many we’d have done following the manufacturers advice)

I couldn’t give a crap about being second on some stupid table. We could have had about 10-12% of the population ‘fully’ immunised. But we now have about 23% of the population inoculated to a degree where they will neither be hospitalised nor die from Covid, and more and more studies showing that the U.K. strategy is the correct one. When you receive your first jab, you will perhaps appreciate it more.....

Definitely. The Pfizer vaccine immunity isn't going to disappear in 12 weeks.

Its incredible that 15m in the UK have been vaccinated and are protected against this deadly disease. Obviously soon the boosters will start which is great.
