Just curious. Of the 15 million vaccinated, how many were AZ and how many Pfizer?
No idea but 40 million Pifzer purchased, so enough for 20 million people.

Although thankfully my Government (Wales) or NHS, maybe just blind luck, will be having my second Pizfer dose within 8 weeks.

so you haven’t found any, have you?
Not even hindsight can fill this hole.

The first batch of Pfizer arrived here today from Belgium and vaccinations will start next week. AZ hasn't actually been approved here yet, but is expected to
be OK'd in the next few days.

Canada has been experiencing problems in Pfizer supply apparently, due to EU restrictions on export. The quicker you get your own manufacturing up to speed the better........

Are you asking me to travel into the future to see how the 12 week gap works out?

Funnily enough I don't have a time machine.

The simple fact is 1 dose helps people significantly. You can deny that all you want.

You said there was loads of research supporting this process (delaying the Pfizer jab). That was a fib, wasn’t it?

Just listening to Johnson, you can tell he is winging it on the vaccines, he is being very very cautious on lifting lockdown, a year late for sensibilities for many of 117,166 dead...

This has nothing to do with politics. Our medical people have decided that a certain level of protection in many people is better than a full level of protection in a fewer number. I’m not sure how you can’t understand this. They are looking at saving lives......

Pete that’s not the case. If you think the JCVI signed off on this by themselves, without any input or approval from their superiors, then you are delusional.

In fact you can see how political this is by two facts - firstly, the amount of slapping themselves on the back the government have been doing.

Secondly, the way people (including on here) have been very careful to suggest the government aren’t the ones responsible for it whilst it’s not clear if it will work. If it does work, we’ll all be told about brave Boris fearlessly etc etc

OK have it your way, it’s all political, not one medical or scientific professional agrees with this but they are saying nothing because...well just because they are timid folk who all support the conservatives.

Meanwhile we carry on making a complete dogs breakfast of this by only giving out over 15,000,000 jabs.

If this was being done by the EU you’d be all over these pages telling us what a wonderful job they are doing. Actually France has done slightly more 2nd jabs than the U.K. and are claiming that they are beating us (although only 3M jabs Vs 15M jabs), so you have your proof......

There are lots of variables which cannot be controlled such as people's cavalier attitude as soon as they have had the jab. The assumption is that protection will not fall off a cliff on day 22. Pfizer won't back it as they did not trial that spacing and don't want any chances of lawsuits.

Our strategy of spreading out the doses is a calculated gamble.

Those calling for us not to is just as big a gamble if not worse.

Assume we have done about 16 million jabs (adding doses 1 and 2). If we had purely focused on giving both doses at the three week interval, there would be just over 8 million double dosed.

Which 7 million are you going to take away some protection from?

I said theres evidence one dose helps prevent illness, I didn't make any comments on specific gaps between doses?

yes, you did:

Agreed. More and more research coming out daily which proves the UK was right in its approach. 1 vaccination is saving countless lives.

our approach is to give up to twelve weeks gap between Pfizer doses, something which is not supported by any research whatsoever, or at least any that’s been published. When called on it you’re now trying to say one dose of it works?

What's this talk about a 'scuccess story' on the vaccine roll out?

One jab is not a success.

We are miles behind other countries in terms of the two jab regime being completed.

And those 7 million are very happy that they have received that first dose....
