What a shallow comment

fwiw if I was judging the happiness of the relationship the indications would be the Macrons

I know, I thought it was terrible of Bruce to be introducing the age of a politicians spouse into a thread about Coronavirus...

How could Macron be happy, he’s French, all they do is moan about the British.....

I CBA vaulting you mate.

And yeah, I most certainly queried the early response to this. I couldnt work out why 5000 people was ok, but 5001 was bad news. IIRC there were similar situations with numbers allowed in shops. It was all very strange. For all of us.

But that is a far cry from calling it rubbish, and advising folk to not take a vaccine.
Well, we're going round in circles and I dont want to continue the accusations and counter accusations on such an important thread. Suffice to say that none of us are experts in this thread. NONE of us. Unless you're a medical scientist, everything is opinion.

Because ours haven't resulted in outbreaks of serious diseases/pandemics in at least 30 years.

Also, the wet markets are thousands of different species mixing and then getting slaughtered in the same environment.

They aren't comparable at all - but yes, neither are 'humane' in that sense.
Mad cow disease ?

You and Dave comparing this to the holocaust really is pretty disgusting
It's not controversial. I didn't use it in any historically specific way.

Go and look up its definition: it means destruction on a mass scale. So how isn't that appropriate to what we've seen with Covid19?

So people are finally being told not book their summer holidays for 2021... It's like Christmas 2020.

Free trading Britain all right, who needs sovereign border or control, it's not what let out it's what you let in that counts.

I really don't get the outrage with booking UK holidays. If we can't go to Wales by June/July the countries completely finished.

Holidays are a nonsense. That's not happening. The restrictions in place right now on movement need to be taken right through this calendar year - that's if we really do want to get on top of this crisis.

Retail sector kept to a bare minimum; hospitality mothballed; office working from home only; extend furlough for another 12 months. Use the whole of the spring and summer to vaccinate everyone in the UK and lend a hand to the roll out of the vaccine worldwide.

It's not a P/T engagaement we can have in the defeat of the virus, it needs every resource we have thrown at it.

We need a national day of mourning for the dead in this country. Maybe then, when reflecting on this completely, we'll see what a monstrosity this government's behaviour has been....then again, I suppose that's the reason we wont get one.

You have to give Johnson credit for presiding over a world beating virus variant.

Not a chance

This thing is never going away - We're just biding time until the pressure on the NHS is reduced

Whether you like it or not

It's not a matter of me liking it or not. That is the only way forward if we want to avoid the type of catastrophe of this winter again. Fail to keep restrictions in place and prepare to see another 100,000 deaths.
