If that was pointed at me I was only commenting that the previous comment reminded me of that famous Einstein quote.
That said, if you look at the lockdown and release strategy, keeping the borders open and not monitored, among other failures it has been a bit of a merry-go-round. Hopefully, the reality has finally dawned on those in power, and the new focus on better management of the borders, attempts to isolate the SA variant and the benefits of the vaccination programme will see us get a better grip on the situation.

Do what I did early doors; dont read the papers, dont watch the news, keep yourself/family safe, and ride it out.
The only news I have watched have been the corona briefings, and the only news on the radio has been from Talksport.
This is a massive problem - and unfortunately a sorry sign of the world we live in

Who’s only purpose seems to be terrify the life out of the nation.
The “ variations “ seems to be the new scare story they’ve hung their hats on.

There is early evidence that our less deadly coronaviruses can set back peoples recovery from long covid.
And Asthmatics are being shifted out of group 6 and the priority groups altogether... Politics and Economics.
That’s the bit they’re missing out though - that variations happen all the time and will continue to happen.
They need to balance their gleeful doom and gloom messaging with this.
It’s scaring the living daylights out of people like pensioners, who’ve been vaccinated, but now don’t know whether they’re coming and going with all of this - the Kent variant, South African variant and now the cider drinking Bristol variant .
Eventually people will become desensitised to it all and just say **** it.

The moment the weather warms up, there’ll be a big kick back from the public.
People are just about tolerating it all at the mo - the weather is crap, the short days etc. Once the nights start drawing out and it becomes warmer, I can’t see people putting up with the current situation, no matter what the government says or try’s to do.

Agree with this but surely we should have been educated on variants earlier in the pandemic? Variants have been around from pretty much day one. The fact that they made a big deal out of one just before Christmas (out of nowhere) seems to be more politically motivated than anything to cover themselves. But then again it might not be? It's hard to tell with this lot running the show.
Mixed messaging and slow reactions have done it for this government. We can only hope that the vaccine really is a game changer.
