Not sure I’m keen on the idea of being kept on furlough for another year, not being able to work when near enough the entire country will be vaccinated within the next couple of months

You actually only need to watch a X men movie to learn that when millions of people are infected by the same virus, variants will happen. Dido Harding, the head of National Institute of Health protection, should watch more movies. What could possibly go wrong...

That’s the bit they’re missing out though - that variations happen all the time and will continue to happen.

They need to balance their gleeful doom and gloom messaging with this.

It’s scaring the living daylights out of people like pensioners, who’ve been vaccinated, but now don’t know whether they’re coming and going with all of this - the Kent variant, South African variant and now the cider drinking Bristol variant .

Eventually people will become desensitised to it all and just say **** it.

Variations will happen much less frequently, and with much less aggression if they can't initially survive.

I'm not sure it's gleeful doom and gloom? What would the alternative be? Not mentioning it? |Keeping the public in the dark that this a serious and deadly pandemic? New strains aren't plot points made up by script writers, they are very real, and very scary things that can kill people. To be honest, they should be scared of them because it's the most rational thing to be.

No mate, they’re portraying the variations as like something from a horror film. With the only intention being sensitisation.

There is an element of the press thriving off this 'story'. As much as they have a duty to report the facts impartially for the good of society's health they also have a stake and obligation to society's mental health. There is a balance to be struck.

What? Nobody is saying go out and break lockdowns. Some people are hopeful that more things become viable in the summer months but others seemingly want the current measures to continue forever.

I don't think wanting a return to normality makes you a selfish covid denying nutter..
