Everybody vulnerable will be vaccinated in the next couple of months - We'll (rightfully) open up thenIt's not a matter of me liking it or not. That is the only way forward if we want to avoid the type of catastrophe of this winter again. Fail to keep restrictions in place and prepare to see another 100,000 deaths.

How is vaccinating everybody doing the same thing again or deja vu?
I think some on here need to stop their amateur analysis of charts and graphs and stop trying to digest every news report that's released

Thing is the summer wasn't the problem though last year. It was the tory decision to reopen absolutely everything in September which caused the problem.Best to prepare and plan for the worst.
Last year it was get the numbers down and we can open up for the summer.
What followed was another lockdown and another one after that.
Yet, you want to do the same thing again this summer.
Isn't it best to prepare for the worst outcome that the virus mutates and none of the current vaccines works against this mutation. We have nothing in place as we thought these vaccines are a silver bullet.
Best to have a proper track and trace system in place that works this time to be on the safe side.
The last few days we have heard people mention of a top up of a 3rd shot of the vaccine for a booster.

UK holidays can happen and can easily be made pretty safe. In my opinion if you're saying UK holidays aren't safe you're basically saying nothing can reopen.
I really don't get the outrage with booking UK holidays. If we can't go to Wales by June/July the countries completely finished.
In terms of test, trace, isolate, the system has to be able to respond within minutes of a confirmed positive test.
There really needs to be an obsessional zeal with which that work gets the attention and resources it deserves.
Test positive, and you are contacted almost immediately, as are your close contacts. The public health arm of the state has to know virtually everything about this.
I heard a good analogy on TV last night.
The majority of Governments/Nations have been tackling the pandemic like a flood rather than a raging fire.
You can't "put out" a flood but you can chase down every burning ember of a fire.
