How is vaccinating everybody doing the same thing again or deja vu?

I think some on here need to stop their amateur analysis of charts and graphs and stop trying to digest every news report that's released

Yes, that’s exactly what needs to happen.

After the first lockdown, the level of infected people in the country was so low that we could, if we really did have a world beating test, trace and isolate system, have prevented another wave of the virus.

There would have been no need for a second lockdown, and the only thing we’d have noticed is all the people from track and trace knocking on doors, doing tests etc, and the media reporting that such and such business or town was under local measures to contain an identified outbreak.

We need this system establishing; if we don’t get it now then when a variant of this virus appears which the vaccine doesn’t work against, we’ll find ourselves back in this same horrific place.

Best to prepare and plan for the worst.

Last year it was get the numbers down and we can open up for the summer.

What followed was another lockdown and another one after that.

Yet, you want to do the same thing again this summer.

Isn't it best to prepare for the worst outcome that the virus mutates and none of the current vaccines works against this mutation. We have nothing in place as we thought these vaccines are a silver bullet.

Best to have a proper track and trace system in place that works this time to be on the safe side.

The last few days we have heard people mention of a top up of a 3rd shot of the vaccine for a booster.

Thing is the summer wasn't the problem though last year. It was the tory decision to reopen absolutely everything in September which caused the problem.

UK holidays can happen and can easily be made pretty safe. In my opinion if you're saying UK holidays aren't safe you're basically saying nothing can reopen.

We need to have a proper track and trace system setup that works this year.

Why we outsourced this i don't know. The NHS have been superb with the vaccine rollout

In terms of test, trace, isolate, the system has to be able to respond within minutes of a confirmed positive test.

There really needs to be an obsessional zeal with which that work gets the attention and resources it deserves.

Test positive, and you are contacted almost immediately, as are your close contacts. The public health arm of the state has to know virtually everything about this.

I heard a good analogy on TV last night.

The majority of Governments/Nations have been tackling the pandemic like a flood rather than a raging fire.

You can't "put out" a flood but you can chase down every burning ember of a fire.

Exactly; the only thing I’d add would to be even more obsessive than that - feel ill with something that might be this, even if it’s only one symptom, and they turn up within an hour to test you.
