It’s great to see that 21 million smartphones have it loaded, it’s not so great to read there are nearly 34 million smart phones in total.....

Yeah I agree with all that but it doesn't really change anything.

A teacher is more likely to get infected, but it doesn't mean they're more likely to end up in the hospital than if they get it than a retired 70-year-old, does it...

There might have been a balance to strike but they haven't done it by occupation unless it's frontline NHS / care workers. Other than that, it's just about levels of vulnerability isn't it
The priority is quite rightly reducing pressure on the hospital's and care homes and protecting their staff. However, it can't be ignored that teachers are twice as likely to die during a pandemic as a member of the general public (which will factor in to hospital's capacity by virtue of increasing r rates if nothing else). My particular bone of contention is how teachers have been lied to and had their unions attacked throughout this. I've no beef with the current age constructed tactic but if lockdowns are to be lifted then front line worker numbers will be increased and this will need to be factored in.

Hospital figures - 753 deaths were announced today, up 219 on yesterday and down 90 on last Wednesday. 664 deaths were in English hospitals, up 155 on yesterday and down 43 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to 604.14

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 1001 deaths were announced today, down 51 on yesterday and down 321 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to an even 788

For the 60 day cut off, 1226 deaths were announced today, down 77 on yesterday and down 280 on last Wednesday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 924.57

My granddaughter’s primary school does every lesson via Zoom. Even those kids who are in the school building do the same Zoom lesson in front of a screen. The teacher is either in another room or at home. I have no idea about secondary schools......

So just our MHRA, the Eu’s EMA and now the world’s WHO all say it’s fine for the over 65’s... do you still think it’s gnats piss then Dave ? Genuine question.....
But you put no faith in the EU's regulatory bodies or WHO. Any port in a storm, eh?

AZ is a vaccine that has a lot of persuading to do on older age groups its used. There's no question about that. The WHO recommendation is based on the results from another adenovirus based vaccine J&J which suggest coverage of older groups, and are giving the AZ vaccine the benefit of the doubt based on that.

I agree the wet markets are discusting, however it’s their culture, as it is ours to slaughter lambs, cows and pigs etc.

I’m no vegi, but what’s the difference. Both are as in humane as the other, just because that’s what we are use to makes it no different.

Because ours haven't resulted in outbreaks of serious diseases/pandemics in at least 30 years.

Also, the wet markets are thousands of different species mixing and then getting slaughtered in the same environment.

They aren't comparable at all - but yes, neither are 'humane' in that sense.
