Some rare positive news.

A GP surgery near me will complete their vax programme for all their top 2 tiers, (care homes/over 80s) by the end of the week. I assume, well, hope, that similar times frames will apply to all surgeries once they have a supply of the stuff.
Wife works at doctors surgery its a big practice 5 doctors they've not had any vaccine yet.

Bloody panic buyers

Actually put off the weekly shop on Sunday too as I wasn’t going to buy enough to justify it, so I decided to do it today instead when I’d actually have a proper sized shop to do

Might just put it off for a couple of days instead until people learn to calm the frig down
What happened mate? Got any pics?

Just seen that Israel have vaccinated around 13% of their population in 2 weeks (first dose). Extremely impressive numbers, they have done over 1m in half the time it took the UK. They only have 8.8m population as well.

Two different mRNA vaccines have now shown remarkable effectiveness of about 95% in preventing COVID-19 disease in adults. As the first round of vaccine recipients become eligible to receive their second dose, we want to remind the public about the importance of receiving COVID-19 vaccines according to how they’ve been authorized by the FDA in order to safely receive the level of protection observed in the large randomized trials supporting their effectiveness.

We have been following the discussions and news reports about reducing the number of doses, extending the length of time between doses, changing the dose (half-dose), or mixing and matching vaccines in order to immunize more people against COVID-19. These are all reasonable questions to consider and evaluate in clinical trials. However, at this time, suggesting changes to the FDA-authorized dosing or schedules of these vaccines is premature and not rooted solidly in the available evidence. Without appropriate data supporting such changes in vaccine administration, we run a significant risk of placing public health at risk, undermining the historic vaccination efforts to protect the population from COVID-19.

Israel should provide a pretty definitive example soon enough as to the true efficacy of the various vaccines, and the degree to which any of them have the so-called "sterilising immunity" - the ability to prevent the passing on of the virus in addition to the immunological benefit.

Last I read - over 1 million people in a population of 8.8 million vaccinated. 24/7 operation throughout the country, with people actively being contacted and encouraged to benefit. Their readiness for a biological warfare attack has undoubtedly stood them in good stead.

Seems Netanyahu has used this opportunity to rebuild his credibility somewhat., at least with his own electorate as opposed to any other group. As much as I profoundly disagree and despair at some of the geopolitical policies of the Israeli state, this is impressive.
Pity they appear to excluding Palestinians from the effort.

Very impressive numbers but seems as though they are going to be held up by supply shortages now. Still to be at 12% this soon is a great effort

I havnt a clue why some have and some havnt.
I know several people who live only 9 miles from my front door who had the first jab 4 weeks ago. Brother-in-law phoned today. He lives in West Yorkshire and had his first jab 3 weeks ago and has his second on Friday. He is her indoors YOUNGER brother. Me and her indoors will be 85 in the next couple of months and haven't' heard a thing regarding vaccination. The local paper has been full of details about where vaccinations will be held and even parking arrangements. Just nothing about WHEN. I have a warfarin blood test at the GP surgery on Thursday, will be asking some questions.

UK now vaccinated over 1.3 million. More than the whole of the EU put together...the decision not to join the EU initiative fully justified.....
