Greece, NZ, Iceland - none of those had experience with virus outbreaks. They dealt with them by early strict intervention.

As an island we had an advantage like two of those countries.
Agree with this - should have 'closed' the borders (i.e. no air travel other than essential and/or enforced 2-week quarantine on arrival). Would definitely have helped.

That being said, people acting like it would have resulted in us being like NZ or Iceland also needs to stop - not saying this is what you are doing, Dave.

Population density alone makes them totally incomparable.

However, it would have been a good start and a sensible first step.

Hopefully mate does the flu vaccine stop you getting the flu or just prevent it being severe?

Never had the vaccine or the flu as far as im aware so haven't a clue

Well it's a different jab every year isn't it? I don't have to have it - my dad does every year and my mum's having hers next week for the first time. Guess it just gives you a boost ahead of that season's strain, and then your body has the antibodies to be able to fight it off if you get it.

Obviously the flu jab is only about 60% effective, just gives your body a better chance of fighting it off without getting seriously ill.

Bloody panic buyers

Actually put off the weekly shop on Sunday too as I wasn’t going to buy enough to justify it, so I decided to do it today instead when I’d actually have a proper sized shop to do

Might just put it off for a couple of days instead until people learn to calm the frig down
Ive just been shopping, saw no panic buying, apart from a slightly longer queue at checkout due to them only having 3 tills open everything was fine.

I highly doubt it but if some people had their way, yes.

We have a flu jab. And surely in years to come, we will simply have a covid jab too which will act in the same way? Or, it'll be a 'flu and coronavirus' jab or whatever
I wont vault you, as Prev seemed to have already done that, but mate, please stop comparing it to the flu, its not even in the same ballpark as the flu.

The only thing I couldnt get was chicken and some rosemary!

I was given a random shopping list, even by her standards, by Mrs R. She wanted a beef stifado for supper. Never had it, never made it, but hey ho, what she wants she gets.

Red wine vinegar, (never heard of it), EXTRA virgin olive oil, tomato puree, shallots, sommet else.

All got. Just spent an hour cobbling it together. Smells ok.

Do you attend protests mate?

No, Goat.

I just replied to a post which was on about if we would be seeing restrictions for flu in winters to come. That surely won't be the case - as we have a jab for that.

We now have a vaccine for COVID. You'd think that, in winters to come, people may well have to have a covid jab too, to prevent against new strains etc.
