I haven’t had a cold or the flu all year.

I always get one or the other when summer and winter starts to hit and the weather changes.

Fully put that down to not being in the office every day and not riding public transport.

Whilst social distancing is about and various forms of lockdowns, numbers of every illness will decrease. It’s quite obvious tbh.
Same. But it wasn't because of measures in my case, rather I was much more careful with my overall health to not visit hospital anymore. Usually I was visiting hospital / a doc in person at least 3 or 4 times a year. None in 2020.

Imagine aliens watching earth in their spaceships over the last 100 years:
"humans have created medicines that extend their lifespan by nearly double!"
"humans have eradicated several viruses that have killed people for hundreds of years through vaccination!"
"humans are rejecting vaccinations because someone made a joke about microchips and others took it seriously"

They are used to outbreaks. We are not.

Some on here were telling everyone its a hoax or a scam, way after Vietnam had stopped flights and stuff. Some in the country still are, and blaming 5G towers.

I clearly remember many times seeing Asian students at Bristol University wearing masks in Jan/Feb when I was visiting at the hospital next door to it. Didnt give it a moments thought, virus related, assumed it was air quality related.
Greece, NZ, Iceland - none of those had experience with virus outbreaks. They dealt with them by early strict intervention.

As an island we had an advantage like two of those countries.

But said vulnerable people are being vaccinated. Also have to consider 1 vulnerable person in a care home probably has zero contact with anyone but the carer; the carer however has contact with plenty of vulnerable people.

Okay... is that agreeing or disagreeing with me? I think the carers - whatever age - should be vaccinated, for the exact reason you say.

In fact, when Margeret first got vaccinated, it was the point I raised that I thought the carers might be a priority for that reason, plus the carer is also going into the 'outside world' and mixing in the community.

⚠️ WHAT NEW LOCKDOWN PROTOCOLS MEAN FOR YOUR LOCAL AREA

Huyton and Prescot -You are able to fight your neighbour providing you wear a mask and social distancing rules are adhered to.

Bootle -you can do anything you want. 1. because your special. And 2 because you would anyway-Bootle has never done rules .

Toxteth You can only visit your dealer when collecting your children from school. The dealer should wear a face visor and make sure all bags are sanitised.

Rainhill Having sex with your sister is still permitted but you must be home before 10pm and use approved lubricant.

Widnes Vigilante groups of no more than six allowed outdoors and socially distancing between the hours of 10pm - 2am only. You must wear suitable PPE for any physical contact.

Liverpool City Centre- Prostitute services are still permitted to remain open, this is now classed as essential services for fear of the economic collapse of the city. Entry from the rear only

Anywhere in Runcorn declared a NO GO ZONE (in 1984), if you must travel to this area please follow all diversions, traffic cones and signals, remain in your car, do not abandon your car, masks are not required as nothing is open

Birkenhead Everyone must remain at home and self isolate until manufacturers can distribute gloves with 6 fingers. Please do not go to A&E for digit removal as they are a tad busy.

St Helens Do as you want, even Covid wouldn’t go to St Helens

I wasn't even speaking to you in the first place?

Not if the vaccine doesn't stop someone catching/spreading it thats the point we dont know if the vaccine does that all we know is it limits severity of illness / hospitalisation numbers.

Until we get confirmation that vaccinating a 20 yr old care worker stops her spreading it to her 65 yr old nan we should focus on vaccinating said 65 year old nan first!

Oh okay, I see what you mean.

Dunno, it's a gamble innit. Surely a vaccine should in theory do both? Just get as many people vaxed as quickly as poss.

so going forward we may have restrictions every winter because of flu deaths...

i mean what???

I highly doubt it but if some people had their way, yes.

We have a flu jab. And surely in years to come, we will simply have a covid jab too which will act in the same way? Or, it'll be a 'flu and coronavirus' jab or whatever

Hopefully mate does the flu vaccine stop you getting the flu or just prevent it being severe?

Never had the vaccine or the flu as far as im aware so haven't a clue
