"Ready" isn't perhaps the right word. It might be ready to do "something", but it's not based on comprehensive research. It's being rushed out the door, and it just feels to me like having all the hallmarks of a political decision.

In my view, if this was purely a scientific call, they'd have pulled it and undergone more trials before releasing it to the public. Instead, they're doing more trials but releasing it to the public before knowing those results - which is irresponsible.

This is going to be a very tough sell now to many members of the public, and as I say I think it's happened because of Tory incompetence and desperation.

And of course nothing to do with irresponsible views like this......

Politics.

If we locked down, properly, schools and all, for a month as of now, I'm convinced we'd break the back of it and get vaccinations rolling.

But we won't.
It may not be the ideal situation either for our children or for gaining a real control of the virus, but on balance surely one month would have some positive impact.

As you say, ensure a significant reduction in interactions, get vaccinations rolling (school staff could help here?) and prioritise efforts in the right direction.

Yeah. No democracy ever tried proper lockdown for a limited time.
