Sorry to hear that Bruce.
Silly sods still aren't really taking it seriously. If you'd like to have a laugh, however, this is the president giving his Christmas address. I'm not sure who he's addressing, but he's basically calling people knobheads for not wearing a mask. His drunken delivery perhaps undermines the message somewhat. It invokes "at least we're not Villa" sentiments in me

It always makes me feel better about our situation when I look at the ongoing mess in Czech. Over 16,000 cases yesterday (that'd be just shy of 100,000 on a procapita basis if they had our population). The family infected count is getting up near 40

You must be mistaken ?

When the Czech fatality rate approaches anything like the UK's we can pick up this discussion again. I doubt we'll have need to.

I mean one month proper lockdown. Everything shut except food shops, once a week shopping.
Last time was like that and it took longer than a month. I think you also have to factor in that less compliance can be expected next time round too.

I can't see the government doing it anyway until its too late, its arguably too late already and they still want to open primary schools.

There was some smart arse (with an EU flag in their bio) on twitter yesterday with the UK figures compared to Europe, trying to say we were by far the worst.

They were quickly told that France, Spain and Germany had all slowed their testing over Xmas. One thing the UK has done well recently is test, test and test. Obviously it's still all somehow selfish British people's fault.

There's gonna be crap numbers across the board, in every European country - it's horrible. Christ knows how it's got that way in Germany - it can't just be non-compliance. It's a freezing winter and we're dead in the middle of it. Just have to get these vaccines out as quickly as poss. The virus is thriving because of the weather. People are more susceptible to illness and it is hitting hard.

The UK gov cocked up by not putting more areas - in particular London and the SE - into T3 in early December. Had they done that, we wouldn't be seeing those numbers now, because of the lag from infection, to hospitalisation, to deaths.

Struggling to get my head round the tiers in my neck of the woods. Me and Bristol were in 3, then 2, then 3 again, while all the surrounding areas were in 2 from the off.

Now, all the surrounding areas are in 4, but me and Bristol are still in 3.

I have not seen a single local press article about significant rising cases in those areas.

Hospital capacity in conjunction with hospital admissions, with a focus on ICU beds, should have played a part in the decision process.

Bristol might have more capacity compared to case numbers. By should, I mean that's if it's not just written on the back of a beer mat.

Our numbers haven’t changed since we were in tier 1, then 3 now 4.....
