I meant bunch of charlatans for stopping publishing the numbers. They'll be an overestimate, but likely not by much.

There would have been an underestimate of COVID deaths in the early ONS data because doctors hadn't seen enough patients to confidently put COVID on the certificate, but no-ones running around to get death certificates revisited.

End of the day, as Hancock and Johnson have previously stated, overall excess deaths is the important figure, both now and for as long as the virus is present in any numbers. Holding back the figures now, instead of publishing them with a caveat, is indicative of how this government micromanages minor issues, when they should be governing major issues. It's easy to see why many of them went into politics, because they'd go bust pretty quickly if they ran their own businesses like they run the country.

It's because the death rate here from Covid19 is almost 100 per day...in the 'low risk' period. We're the sick man of Europe. A continuing cesspit.

They want to hide it away because the return to business they hoped for has cratered.

All settings - 40 is the total, as shown on trackers as the DHSC haven’t published it due to the pending inquiry into how PHE have logged deaths by causes. This figure is 74 down on yesterday and 108 down on last Saturday and brings the 7 day rolling average down to 67.86 with the earlier hospital figure bringing that average down under 20 to 18.57

To what extent are wearing masks down to controlling the virus and not just paying lip service?

Let me put this to you, food for thought.

When the UK went into lockdown , you didn't need a mask on the bus. You didn't need one in shops, work , hospital generally etc. Despite the sheer numbers being reported and the amount of deaths happening, you didn't need a mask.

Now the numbers have dropped significantly , mass gatherings aplenty has not seen any increase in numbers (or hospital visits) and people are being encouraged to go back to normality, masks are suddenly mandatory?

Do we really need to wear masks? Or are we getting told to now simply because the government are pretending to implement measures to appease people?

Think about it. I'm not peddling a conspiracy theory about masks (I'll save that for the Americans), I'm just simply asking why now? After the pandemic gas had its worst hits?

Because prevention was applicable 3 months ago, and people have stopped getting sick anywhere near as much.

There was a suggestion that the lack of masks/PPE meant the government did not want the population to become competitors for critical resources required by the health sector - thus the messaging.

Visited a popular seaside town today in the north-east We were the only ones wearing masks in shops and there was little to no social distancing. The arcades had no sanitiser available and the place was packed. We’re going to get a very nasty spike again.

Personally I doubt we get any real major spikes.

Just very small overall decreases.

Compare our numbers to other countries that are NOT Brazil and Murica, they all saw much sharper decreases once they had a handle on things, ours are decreasing, but we still hit triple digits some days which is "the spike".

The concern for me at this point is The Winter.

Also, not only had he fully explained the reason for the 7 day increase within his post, he also gave you a full and easily understandable response when you raised the same question this time last week. There was no reason for you to raise the question again seeing as he had already explained it twice.

So yes, I think you are stalking him for some reason best known to you. It's not as if he's even offering an opinion. he's just quoting figures.

I find it completely incredible that the English are still not wearing masks in shops, in Spain we have been wearing them for months, and here and elsewhere in the world they prove their worth. Are the English now as stupid as the Americans?

Ive got no issue with @Megatron on a personal level, I like the boy, I do question the way he presents the figures a little from time to time.

Its a forum mate, I'm allowed to question what is presented.

I don't follow the numbers religiously as I did and his is probably my only source regarding them now, so I was curious as to why we saw such a big increase, he replied and that was that.

If @Megatron feels as I'm stalking him or being an arse, I'm sorry, it was not my intention.
