Talking about which virus you want is a bit like saying I'm not having a sirloin steak as I only eat fillet. We are extremely fortunate that these excellent vaccines are available in the UK.

I'm 29, I'm not getting a vaccine for a long, long time anyway, I was just curious on how it's decided who gets which type of vaccine with the effectiveness quite strongly different.

I understand where you are coming from but this vaccine is still fantastic.
Hmmmm.

Just because the British media and government tell you it is doesn't make it so. I't's cheap and available. But it's not near what is fast becoming the industry standard.

If you were offered Pfizer or AstraZenica's vaccines for your elderly relative, what one would you choose for them?

It’s not 40% more effective. If a half dose is followed up with a full dose it gives over 90%. As I said, whatever vaccine and dosage is approved will be fine.....
That sample is so small that it's been dismissed as an unplanned detour from the bulk of the testing done and statistically doubtful.

Then it won’t be approved. My point being that if a vaccine and its dosage is approved then it will do the job....

Running stories like this are designed to steer people away from demanding the more efficacious Pfizer vaccine and toward accepting the inferior Oxford vaccine.

A BS sensationalist headline which, when you read it, underlines there is no problem with the Pfizer vaccine that doesn't occur in an infinitesimal number of cases with all vaccines.

Dont fall for the ruse. Demand a better vaccine than the Oxford one. Dont fall for the UK government / media spin.

Approval is as much a political decision as a medical one. Do you think the MHRA are fully independent of government and big pharma?

Dont be naive.

Take the tin foil hat off Dave. It’s just the media communicating info from from the drug regulator, in their usual click hungry fashion as is the media industry standard.

There's no tin foil hat. One vaccine is vastly inferior to the other two already declared. That is a statistical and scientific fact. Any story that places doubt in the minds of people wanting the more efficacious vaccine can help make them accept the less efficacious one...or at least muddy the waters.

My clear headed, paranoia-free advice is for people not to fall for that.

...and the nature of the MHRA is that it's a body who;s members have links to big pharma and they are politically created. Dont be naive enough to consider them to be completely objective, because they are not.

You said those stories are “designed to steer people away from the Pfizer vaccine”, citing a sensationalist headline as a ruse to fool us all, and get us to accept a vaccine with lower efficacy. I think that’s rubbish.

The headline is “designed” to make people click, so the publisher can sell advertising.

There was one yesterday that worked a treat on me. “6 people died during Pfizer trial, it has been revealed.”

Click

6 people did indeed die during the trial. 2 who were receiving the vaccine, 4 were getting a placebo. Advertising sold. Job done. No conspiracy.
