I once had an employee who said this about the flu vaccine. Only he was being serious. He honestly thinks Zombies are real. He is one of those anti vaccine dopes too.

He was good at what he does but we had to let him go because the two new contracts we took on required shots and up to date vaccines.

He effectively lost out on a healthy high five figure sum for two months work.

Now he works in Best Buy as part of their Geek squad.
Yeah but at least he ain’t no zombie!

;) Going to take some reading though......
Very worrying the report on this vaccine on Newsnight tonight. The confidence intervals for the vaccine are stark. The high-high dosage that get's 62% efficacy falls to as low as 47% at the lower end of the confidence interval.

The Pfizer confidence interval is much higher: 90%-97%.

The other drawback with the Oxford vaccine is that very few of those taking part in the trials (either of the high-high dosage or low-high dosage) were over the age of 55 - so that is a massive problem for rolling it out to our most vulnerable people.

In short: the Oxford vaccine is a relative failure and in no way shape or form compares to Pfizer. But this government is going to rely on this inferior vaccine to try and get immunity for the vast majority of our population because they have a hundred million doses of of it bought up and committed to.

This is a major issue and problem now. Oxford-AstraZenica is second rate and cant compete with other vaccines. Expect a roaring market for people buying Pfizer shots or Moderna...or even Sputnik.

Thing is we've ordered vaccines from 7 different producers for a total of 350m vaccines. When ordering they had to cover all bases as you can't just commit to one because you are screwed if it doesn't work out. And you have to order early as if you wait you wouldn't be able to get enough. You also have to take into account how long rollout takes. So again better to spread risk across as many viable vaccines as possible.

We have 40m Pfizer vaccines on order, so enough for 20m if they are all used successfully. According to Wikipedia (as of 2011) the UK population aged over 55 was just below 18m. So we should have enough in theory to cover pretty much all of the most vulnerable people with the Pfizer vaccine.

He is aware of that but if something doesn't suit @davek 's agenda he ignores it.

Where do you find the latest figures? I want to see what rate Sefton is but the BBC data is over a week old.
Bbc radio Merseyside are quite good at putting figures up on twitter.

The Echo however are an absolute joke. They did an article the other day saying that its on the rise in Merseyside as the rate had increased by about 0.3 even though across the whole week it had dropped again. Pure clickbait nonsense.

If you were going for the vaccine soon how would you know which of them you were getting? Would you have to request the better one?
Give the pensioners the good one. Under 60s can have the Oxford one which is easily good enough anyway, much better than the flu vaccine for example.

This is all well and good but 62% is still extremely high, they have still created a vaccine that will save millions of lives. If every person on earth got the Oxford vaccine covid would die out.
