Do we have 14 million doses ?

Because that’s how many people get the flu jab every year in the UK. And that is ignoring the fact that Covid is far more virulent and deadly than the Flu.

We have something like 800,000 Covid vaccine doses which needs to be given twice so in reality 400,000. The vast majority of us will be waiting way into next year..

Right, this is going to sound blunt, but well... why is a 90 year old in the first group to be vaccinated???

surely... surely... the priority has to be 50-80 yr olds with underlying conditions? Or, it should be to get the NHS frontline workers sorted first?

or is this a work backwards from age thing?

chuffed for the lady, like, but given the vaccine is in such short supply...

No vaccine is 100% effective.
I think we're all aware of that.

So those who choose not to get it pose a small but definite risk to the majority of us who do.

If being vaccinated were compulsory that small risk would reduce still further.

Now that seems logical to me. Tell me I'm wrong.

It's a line in the sand.

Where does it end because once you cross that line their will be calls to ban smoking ban consuming alcohol ban ban being obease ban extreme sports. Ban Sunday League football and Rugby etc.

All contribute to overloading NHS and significant cost to those of us who pay into the NHS.

There is enough interference from the spurious administrive class already.

Because there is no ring of steel round care homes etc. Welcome to policalised Tory Britain.

I mean, this is gonna sound blunt again, but it’s not the care home residents who are at risk of catching covid in terms of those being the source of an outbreak.

a lot still aren’t allowed visitors outside of a bubble, if at all (depends on the care home). That’s obviously a risk, but the main risk to bringing covid into a home is the staff.

they get tested weekly, again depending on the care home but the vast majority weekly, so surely if it’s to ringfence care home patients, the priority should be getting the staff vaccinated?

A 90-year old is at risk of dying from this thing, why's it weird they're given the vaccine first?

I am considered tier 9 as I am mid forties and healthy. I will not get a vaccs if I have one until 2022

Tier 5 for me I think. But count yourself lucky that you are mid forties and healthy. Meanwhile, the rates per 100k seem to be reducing and the vaccination is being rolled out. When the Oxford vaccination is approved there will no doubt be widespread jabs given by your local GP. The numbers will build up quite quickly I would think. Hopefully we will see the back of this before too many more die from it.....
