Current Affairs Coronavirus Thread - Serious stuff !!!

I've not read more than just a few pages on this thread but from a few snippets from elsewhere it appears that the Liverpool mass testing is generating figures that show a far lower percentage of tests proving positive. The test method being used is seemingly a much more accurate indicator of infection than that used across the rest of the country. Not surprisingly the media has dropped broadcasts of how the testing is going, and it is avoiding saying much about the results.

Hospital figures - 434 deaths were announced today, up 65 on yesterday and up 11 on last Thursday. 346 deaths were in English hospitals, up 64 on yesterday and up 29 on last week with 340 occurring in the past 10 days. The 7 day rolling average rises to 329.71

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 501 deaths were announced today, down 28 on yesterday and down 62 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 406.71

For the 60 day cut off, 527 deaths were announced today, down 26 on yesterday and down 78 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 425.14

I don’t blame you either, I think they have been shockingly poor right up to now, the circuit breaker lockdown is far to short at 4 weeks.

All that said they could luck out on the Oxford vaccine if it can back up the 95% efficacy as rumoured, it’s being produced in the UK so distribution and logistics will be hard to get wrong, given that advantage. Plus it doesn’t need to be cold stored and single dose.

Personally if I had a choice of the three, I think I’d go for an RNA initially and I wouldn’t be in anyway anti vaccine.

The RNAs will go for assessment to the FDA and EU in the first week of Dec, we will have a decision on approval in days (usually takes months).

Depending on when the Oxford results and data is released I’d say it will be the start of 2021 when they go for approval.
I just read that the AstraZenica vaccine could potentially give protection at lower doses than the other two confirmed so far.

I suppose they all have different USP and might suit different demographics.

My overarching point though is one of doubting that this lot in government could organise a piss up in a brewery.

Apparantly not as long as you for how much you read his Twitter

I do every now and then read his twitter since you told everyone back in October that he is balanced and unbiased.

When i last looked he was being very balanced and saying the election was robbed off Trump and the NWO are using the virus to do a great reset???

How long have you been a fan of this balanced fruitloop?

Also factor in the MHRA, the British version of the American FDA are a fair bit stricter than than the FDA.
Plus Trump, love him or hate him, (I'm the latter)has removed lots of barriers/ restrictions around the American owner vaccine companies, which has helped Moderna, Pfizer get through their products a lot faster than normal. Time will tell whether that is right or wrong.
Pretty sure back in 2005 FDA was somewhat curtailed in its remit when it comes to new medications...

If you have a population of 67 million people and you've secured 45 million vaccines, and you're reliant on AstraZeneca to come through with 100 million vaccines to make it work with 100 million vaccines, THAT is putting all your eggs in one basket.

They have procured pre orders for loads of vaccines. The Oxford one has the most doses pre ordered but saying they have all their eggs in one basket is rubbish.

They've ordered 350 million doses of various vaccines, which disproves your whole point.

We all know if they hadn't ordered the Oxford vaccine and it turned out to be first to declare and over 90% effective that you'd be saying they were idiots for not buying it and trusting one of our best Universities.

Such predictable drivel.

You need your head feeling if you believe this lot have secured potentially 350 million doses of vaccine. That's their spin. They couldn't even anticipate Moderna being into the field quickly and they scrambled around for just 5 million doses. The striking of real deals rather than 'access to' by this lot will mirror the way theylve beat their chests over doing trade deals outside the EU (maybe you missed the outcome of those promises: they fell through by and large).

And that brings me on to the EU: their Inclusive Vaccines Alliance have secured hundreds of millions each from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZenica, Sanofi/GSK, Johnson & Johnson, CureVac. Two billion in all. THAT's what not putting all your eggs in one basket looks like.

Good to see the Stormomt assembly giving another masterclass in leadership

Barbers and cafes can reopen tomorrow. But then they have to close again next Thursday because we are having a hard lockdown like March again.

Cant even vote them all out because of our 5 party coalition system
