Have a bit of a cold so got sent for one of those rapid antigen tests yesterday. Pretty painful. I was literally in tears lol But got the results in 15 minutes which was good. Having a cold during Covid times has been interesting. Got a ton of urgent work to do and would normally drag myself into work to do it. But obviously that’s not really possible. So I feel guilty for it being dumped on someone else and I’d feel equally guilty if going into work with a mild cold. Add to that the worry that it might have been Covid and who I might have passed it onto and all that. Bring on the vaccine.

What do you mean not being eligible for a free test?

It was around 2 weeks ago, According to the Gov.website she wasn't eligible for a free test as she had been in direct contact with a positive case. Same if one of a family get it the rest of the house have to pay to find out if they have got it too.
Absolutely bonkers!!
Stinks of privatisation to me.

My household all had tests at the weekend (3 of us) because my mother in law and brother in law hsve it (my MIL looks after my daughter after school)
Just went to the gov website and booked a walk in on the day. No cost at all.
So not sure what you are looking at?

They’re free, that’s the whole point of getting people to use them ???

This is correct. You only ‘qualify’ for a test if you have symptoms or someone in your household does. It stops people getting tested for the sake of being tested, especially when there is only a finite number of tests that can be processed in a day.

I was chuffin fummin with it ! Quoted 250 in Brighton wtf ???!!!!
It seems they have figured out that If they test people who have had contact with it, then perhaps it will give a more accurate
idea of the spread. Took them long enough.

I’ve just asked my wife and we didn’t book anything. She just looked up the walk in centre and we went there direct. So maybe that’s why.

As ever it seems things are different by the second. The ‘qualifying’ criteria is what was laid out for us at work back in August, so god only knows now!

I did a drive in test on Sunday, no appt, in and out, all free.

Makes me more convinced that the illness I had before Xmas 2019 was infact COVID-19 as I've never had a flu like it in my life and was wiped out for a good 4 weeks almost.

Makes me more convinced that the illness I had before Xmas 2019 was infact COVID-19 as I've never had a flu like it in my life and was wiped out for a good 4 weeks almost.

If people really had this strain of Cov19 last year we would have seen thousands of deaths last year.

If anything it was a less deadly strain that was floating around last year.

I know loads of people who had terrible coughs and stuff in December, I had 1 myself that was horrific, but I dont think it was the Rona personally.

I had the cough and cold last year. Apparently it was about 4 or 5 different viruses. It took my team out one by one.

The start of the first wave in this country took about 6 weeks before we reached 1000 deaths a day, the second wave will probably reach 1000 deaths a day within a few weeks.

I find it hard to believe this strain of cov19 has been around for over 12months now.
