Things like this make me confused about the rules. Regardless of being tested beforehand surely we should all be promoting the correct behaviour when millions of people are watching?

Don't really see the problem if they all tested negative. A little bit of normality is welcome because things are not good.

For example, I've never seen as many people putting their decorations up this early in all my life. My FB has been full of pictures over the last few days. I think people need a little bit of hope and a morale boost.

It`s no different that footy players, jumping all over each other when a goals been scored or a load of rugby players all over each other during the game.

Everyone knows that they`ve all been tested beforehand.

Plus it clearly states that they`ve all been tested and the camera crew are socially distanced ???

Common sense is ringing out the bell.

Yeh that post came the day after though. Most celebs don't release posts stating that either. These people are followed by millions and there will be those watching thinking "oh cool, I can go do that". Guaranteed.

They are called influencers after all.

Help may be coming from an unexpected quarter:

Saw that and scratching my head. I don't understand the vector for getting a mouthwash to kill off a virus that is replicating inside your body, but let's try everything. Maybe @RAFUH can help shed some light on this? Sounds like gibberish to me.

My brief read....this was bench level research. Nothing in actual humans yet or anything about decreasing transmission. Appears this was a hypothesis finding trial.

Still lots of questions as it wouldn't change nasal or respiratory virus and given saliva is constantly replenished can't imagine the effect is that prolonged.

....but this is why we do the research. My assumptions are just that.

"The medical-political complex tends towards suppression of science to aggrandise and enrich those in power. And, as the powerful become more successful, richer, and further intoxicated with power, the inconvenient truths of science are suppressed. When good science is suppressed, people die."

Spot on that.

It's grant season again doc, what do we do?

We got this virus thing going on, right?

Yep.

Pour some listerine on it in a petri dish and get me the data.

Listerine kills it, apparently.

Call the papers, we're getting some money and we'll be open again next year!

I'm not a social animal but I've never experienced a party quite like the week we got our AHA and NIH funding announced. I think the bar tab alone was near $2,000 and we had only 6-7 in the lab. I'm not sure how we got those expenses approved, but that's the job of the PI I suppose.

Whole country will go in to tier 3 after lockdown is my guess. No pubs open until after new year is my other guess too.. that'll cause riots!! lol

@peteblue what`s the word on the street about pubs re opening ?

I know the little real ale brewery up the road from me are ready to go for the first week in Dec.

They were the only ones ready locally for the first week of the last lockdown and cleaned up.

If pubs open on the 3rd, that means the beer will have been ordered about a week earlier, which means the brewers are already making the stuff. Like with other foodstuffs the beer chain cannot take uncertainty. We are still planning to open on the 3rd, but every day seems to bring a different story from the government. For us the 25th is drop dead day as that’s when the orders need to be in by. If on the 3rd we go back to whatever tier we were in prior to lockdown then we open. But god only knows what is happening elsewhere.

In other good news, we continue to give beer away to the villagers and have yet another barrel vented, tapped and ready to go from tonight. I will continue with nightly ongoing quality control testing...
