So have most countries in Europe not seen an enormous second spike in the past month (since SAGE recommended a national lockdown)? Are we ourselves not seeing an enormous second spike now?
The UK arent alone in this. Our SAGE here (Nephet) recommended a lock down (slightly less harsh then the first) in the first week of of October. The Goverment decided to implement some restrictions but felt that society and the economy needed to mentally prepare for a second lock down and wouldn't do it over night.
They eventually announced ours two weeks ago, but with a few days to prepare, we went into it on the 21st of Oct and are a week and half into it now and it is to last until the 1st of Dec - though some sounds that it might be lifted earlier. Our cases peaked at 1200 odd in the second wave so far before lock down, we had 762 yesterday.
This was inevitable unfortunately in Autmun/winter, i think some governments have become a bit hubris and tried other measures to see could they avoid a full lock down, they haven't worked unfortunately and most of Europe will be in a second i suspect shorter lockdown this week or the week after.
The Virus is gripping Europe again, the UK is just seeing what every country is seeing, its the natural season for growth in infectious diseases in Europe it was always inevitable, its individual governments reactions that will be appraised at this stage.
