I know it's going to be controversial to call this the Chinese Virus, and perhaps he'll rightly be called racist for saying so...

... but at the same time it 100% totally needs to be said and China need to be held accountable here.

I don't think that's particularly helpful. And I'm not really sure how anyone can be held accountable here. In fact we're kind of past that anyway. Decisions have been made that we all have to live with.

The Johnson Government gambled they and the hand picked medical advisers they chose knew better than the World Health Organisation and the experience of other governments who had already gone through the early stages of Coronavirus. They didn't. They gambled with all our lives.
I think it was more sinister than that. They knew the most pragmatic decision was lockdown. However, they also knew that the majority of the population couldn’t survive on SSP and has little or no savings. So a lockdown would have potentially caused societal breakdown. So they opted to allow the virus to spread, using a model that patently had herd immunity at its core, but was completely flawed and underestimated ICU need and the death rate. So they’ve back peddled at the 11th hour, but have still bottled the full lockdown.

I think a lot of places are going to try and stay open but it’s supply and demand , it’s simply whether it’s economically viable .

I think you’ll see quite a few open for a bit longer yet , the advice seemed to be to ‘avoid‘ which depending on how you interpret potentially seems to stop short of telling people to cease going in completely.

The first thing that I do on Saturday when I'm out of isolation is head straight for McDonald's for this

BORIS Johnson left manufacturers unimpressed last night after making light of the lack of available ventilator equipment in the UK as the coronavirus spreads.
Ventilators are critical in the care of some people suffering coronavirus, and there is concern that the NHS will face a shortage of the life-saving equipment as need increases.
A recent report from the Imperial College Covid-19 response team also warned that, under the UK Government's current plan to curb the spread of the pandemic, the health system will be "overwhelmed many times over".

In a conference call with over 60 businesses last night, Johnson and Michael Gove asked manufacturers to step up to help deal with the shortage.
However, according to POLITICO, Johnson joked that the initiative to build more ventilators could be known as "Operation Last Gasp".
One participant speaking with POLITICO journalist Charlie Cooper said “He couldn’t help but act the clown, even though he was a on call with serious CEOs from goodness knows how many companies.”
55 people in the UK have died as a result of Coivid-19 as of Tuesday morning.
Downing Street did not comment.

I'm not a supporter of any party, but I think our government has been as good as possible so far in this. Probably no harm having a doctor in charge at this time.

Varadkar is doing well, but I particularly admire Tony Houlihan CMO, with whom I had the privilege of working closely from 2001-2006 when I was in the DOH - he was Deputy CMO at the time.

Tony is a rock of sense, and does not do panic, and he has been very measured in all of his interventions and advice in this matter.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your Prime Minister.

It's hard to imagine a government getting it so wrong on so many crucial matters concerning life and death. The first and most important task of any government is to protect its own people. It's not only failed to do that, it's actively worked agianst achieving that task - whether by incompetence ofr design.

IF nothing else this will be the downfall of him and his government. A shocking response so far - absolutely zero testing being done to curb costs.

Strap yourselves in because under this leadership we're going to be in this one for a long time.

The time to argue about this was last week and more likely a month ago. Governments both in the UK and US and elsewhere made a decision. Debating it now is the equivalent of arguing about the barn door, once the door was left open. The horse has fled.

It is what it is. We are where we are. Taking adequate precautions, making sensible decisions and listening to government advice at this stage is the only viable solution to minimizing the effect.

that’s fair but it doesn’t mean any actions taken can’t be scrutinised. A week ago the US president called this a democratic hoax , a couple of days ago the UK seemed to have one strategy now we’ve got another .in my opinion People have every right to be asking questions
