Interesting listen on 'herd immunity' and the Great Barrington declaration.
I don't pretend to be an expert mate can only go off what i witnessed .I went wigan a&e in April nurse said they were really quiet and the covid ward was as well the new building for covid never got used still hasn't.
Im not saying we shouldn't go into lockdown .But you can't argue that London was 3 or 4 weeks in front of the north in April and should have been locked down then .
Then they lifted lockdown all over the country at the same time when they new the north was behind the south in the curve no wonder its bad up here now and starting to work its way down south just the opposite of what happened in March /april. Another 2 weeks and it'll be as bad down there.
And thats without going on about schools and universities.
What i will say hardly know anyone who had it in April, at the moment i know 4 whos got it now and 3 who's had it recently don't know if its through more testing or not but only got tested because they had symptoms so from experience its worse now than April. There will always be anomalies, and London should probably have been locked down earlier than the rest of the country, but it was rife up here in April, and would have been worse if we hadn't locked down when we did.
There's a lot of politics being played on the idea of a circuit breaker, but the reality that most politicians don't want to vocalise is that it would take longer for a circuit breaker to work in the North-West than it would in the South.
Put crudely, to get infection rates down to similar levels across England, if you had a general circuit breaker across England of 2 or 3 weeks, then that'd need to last for something like 3 or 4 weeks in places like London and maybe 5 or 6 weeks in the likes of the North-West to get the country back to a level playing field.
Johnson, Hancock, Burnham, Anderson and Rotherham all know that by the way, they just don't want to say it out loud.
SAGE were only ever used as a smokescreen to hide behind; first for the first wave delay in locking down, then in terms of re-opening the economy. SAGE have for some time now been deviating from government messaging because they know they've been had off during this crisis. David Davis last night revealed the government line on the science behind their decision making: "SAGE are just one voice amongst health experts." And it's known that Carl Heneghan - Dr Feelgood as he should be know - has the Clown's ear and tells him what to do. He's as big a 'kin clown as the man he provides advice to.If your line all along as a Government, and supporters of that Government, has been 'we have been steadfastly following the science all other opinion is purely playing politics'; you cannot then decry others for playing politics who are asking for the scientific advice to be followed as the Government has now, seemingly, departed from it.
Are the Government still following the science?
If they are, which scientific advice, as apparently it's not SAGE, are they following?
If there has been a change in national strategy, presumably done on cost benefit basis, why hasn't that, as an essential public health message, been communicated to the public?
Yes, there is most definitely a departure. But SAGE should be the primary source of scientific advice, based on their ToR.SAGE were only ever used as a smokescreen to hide behind; first for the first wave delay in locking down, then in terms of re-opening the economy. They are the proposals made, as a sort of 'pick and mix' for the Government.

Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) table, 21 September 2020
A table outlining impacts of various potential interventions.www.gov.uk
It really is a joke. People keep saying how safe it is at my work (hospitality) , are you joking? We're a tiny, tiny building with aircon on 24/7 to provide heat or breeze through the building.
Intervention View attachment 104483
Closure of bars, pubs, cafés and restaurants
View attachment 104482Impact on COVID transmission Moderate impact (medium confidence). Potential reduction in Rt of 0.1-0.2, though precise estimation very difficult. Environmental risk in bars, pubs etc is likely to be higher than many other indoor settings due to close proximity of people, long duration of exposure, no wearing of face coverings by customers, loud talking that can generate more aerosols. Some venues are poorly ventilated, especially in winter. Consumption of alcohol impacts on behaviour.
Intervention View attachment 104480
Closure of indoor gyms, leisure centres, fitness etc.

Potential reduction in Rt of up to 0.1, though precise estimation very difficult.
