No need, either debate in a civil manner or don’t...

You are purposely confabulating forecast as fact and for political gain, then screaming its not fair when called out or presented with salient fact and actual timelines of events. You cant play the Brexit game with this virus it has immediate consequences, which results in loss of real people and their lives...

What's your point? We should've done nothing to test the model effectively?

2005, Bird Flu...Guardian

”Last month Neil Ferguson, a professor of mathematical biology at Imperial College London, told Guardian Unlimited that up to 200 million people could be killed.”

actual number ? Less than 300 people worldwide.

And nothing posted on here will affect that. However and whatever your viewpoint, I think it best not to start a post by calling someone else a numpty at which point I stopped reading....

Does anyone of these people have a clue how this is to be paid for. How much does a ‘national’ lockdown cost per week. A multi product business would not close down the whole of its operations because one of its products has a defect, they fix the particular product while using money from its other operations. The actions of Burnham are not designed to help overcome this virus, his agenda is purely political. I have far more respect for the Mayors within the Liverpool City Region for at least recognising what needed to be done......
They have money for nuclear subs and pointless train lines and second hand wars, they could find some.

yes pete, that’s why they are rushing about like headless chickens and why you are slating everyone apart from them

I agree that they, and a great many others, are doing headless chickens a disservice. But my point still stands. Deal with the problem where the problem is. Don’t put Devon and Cornwall into Lockdown because Burnham doesn’t want to be seen as the bad guy in Manchester.....

Again, I'm not fully sure you understand the context behind these. That may be due to not having read any of it detail and just looking at media headlines.

Perhaps you could explain what the '200m' figure was related to in regard to H1N1 modelling?

Could you do similar for 'mad sheep' and the other claims in the Spectator as they seem to have distilled nuanced modelling and prediction to an unqualified attack. Thanks.

Didn't everywhere get shut down in March when it was rife in London whilst up north we had hardly any infection whats the difference now .

Hi mate.

If we had hardly any infection when locked down, how come the number of people in hospital with COVID in the North-West rose so sharply in April ?

Oh and...I've shared it in thread in the past, but unsurprisingly you might have missed it.

Any thoughts @peteblue?

Would normally use insidious and duplicitous for this kind of political thought process and reckoned on numpty was more endearing on a common ground forum... So taken note!

Stick with arsehole. Apparently Pete thinks it's a term of endearment.
you really are a complete arsehole aren’t you.....

Yes, but without a functioning test and trace system we can’t stop Devon and Cornwall being hit by it eventually (most likely by the people who have holiday homes there but work in London or Manchester and who are fleeing the lockdown in those places).

Lockdowns are terrible for loads of reasons, but since this government has totally screwed up the prevention of this they are (again) the only game in town. The alternative is 10000s / 100000s of preventable deaths, and no government could (or should) survive the public after that.

I don't pretend to be an expert mate can only go off what i witnessed .I went wigan a&e in April nurse said they were really quiet and the covid ward was as well the new building for covid never got used still hasn't.
Im not saying we shouldn't go into lockdown .But you can't argue that London was 3 or 4 weeks in front of the north in April and should have been locked down then .
Then they lifted lockdown all over the country at the same time when they new the north was behind the south in the curve no wonder its bad up here now and starting to work its way down south just the opposite of what happened in March /april. Another 2 weeks and it'll be as bad down there.
And thats without going on about schools and universities.
