I see Andy Burnham is playing politics with this. He is not in favour of shutting down Manchester, but is in favour of a National lockdown, thereby completely passing the buck to central government. Absolute toad.....
Has any government support been offered to any of the business's in Liverpool or anywhere else that's having or had a localized lockdown?

No idea how it works but maybe a national lockdown these business's may get some support from the government, hence they want a national and not a local one.

Does anyone of these people have a clue how this is to be paid for. How much does a ‘national’ lockdown cost per week. A multi product business would not close down the whole of its operations because one of its products has a defect, they fix the particular product while using money from its other operations. The actions of Burnham are not designed to help overcome this virus, his agenda is purely political. I have far more respect for the Mayors within the Liverpool City Region for at least recognising what needed to be done......

But they haven't done anything? Shut pubs and gyms.

Except for the pubs that serve food which suddenly become the hottest nightclub about for those wanting a night on the lash.

Literally done nothing here. I have more respect for anyone challenging the decision. At least then they are wanting to apply logic to the circumstances

But Burnham is not ‘challenging’ the decision, he wants a National lockdown so that he can wash his hands of it all and have no responsibility....

I agree with you, i was trying to understand why they would want a national one? which for the second time would be a disaster and basically put the nail in the coffin for those who are still suffering from the first lockdown.

I cant square that circle neither.

It doesnt matter to me, on a personal basis, but if say Plymouth was knackered with the virus, but Manchester was pretty benign, would Burnham be so keen for a national lock down?

Think we know the answer to that.
