Yes, mate.

I’m showing solidarity with the millions of people who are taking a massive cut in income with no assurances that they’re going to have jobs to come back to. You’re ignoring that side of things and seem to think they should all just suck it up and get on with it.

Sunak would be very proud of you.

I'm not really following that carefully, so how much has @davek said to close? I can see about pubs/clubs/gyms and possibly restaurants, but is he saying anything more?

This is a huge balancing act, ideally everything stays open and people try to get on with extreme caution. But we tried that and it's failing. So as much as I would like things to stay open I'd rather pubs et all shut and we stay out of a complete lockdown that will have far reaching consequences for all industries than just the leisure and hospitality sector. Just imagine being told not to leave the house bar a maximum of an hour's exercise and not mix at all with anyone outside of your household again.

Confidence will be brittle and it's not like a load of people will be flush over this period. So 66% of wages paid and if it can be combined with some deal with lenders so you only have to pay 66% of your mortgage/rent without penalty sounds a lot better than carry on, footfall drops as the virus rises and then businesses start letting people go.

It may turn out schools are the big issue here, but without schools open many can't work anyhow. It's all catch-22.

How many times have you been wrong? I'd err just a little bit on the side of caution on these statements if I were you. We are heading into a storm again and if you dont think support will come you are very wrong. Even today this chancellor is announcing financial support for businesses that have to close.

Do keep up.

Sunak announced support for employees without work as a result of forced closures. 66% of salary.

Like I said. This Government has no appetite to do furlough levels of support again.

The vast majority of people employed in hospitality cannot afford to live without a third of their pay. You’re not arsed though.

SHUT IT DOWN
DESTROY LIVELIHOODS

You're missing the point.

They locked down nationally because they had no idea how quickly it was going to spread to other parts of the country. It wasn't even a discussion in March to do localised lockdowns. Every country in Europe followed the same route with the exception of a couple of outliers.

This idea that it's a conspiracy against the North is rubbish.
Im not saying its a conspiracy im saying the north are being treated differently than the south.Go back three weeks parts of greater Manchester had restrictions when only 20 or 30 people per 100.000 had tested positive. I've seen it reported somewhere today that Londons at 100 per 100.000 at the minute .

That Nancy Pelosi tweet has properly made me chuckle.

A country that's literally hooked on Opioids and where "Big pharma" offer incentives to doctors to prescribe their medication to patients.

Absolute morons.
Our government for lowering standards and giving others ammunition?

I'm not allowed out of the house due to the nonsensical mandatory isolation upon a return from a country that isn't on the UK 'travel corridor' even though statistically it's far safer than the UK... anyway I digress - am I allowed to bring people to me?

Liverpool currently has over 500 per 100,000*, which equates to more than one in two-hundred. You have a similar picture in other place within the North.

We started with the same relaxed rules come the end of the Summer and have then had more stringent rules imposed, yet the rate is still much higher here.

We may be treated different in the North, but perhaps there is to some extent a reason for that which is our own making.

*The real figure may actually be above 700 per 100,000, which is 1 in 142.
