How severe? The lockdown.
Outdoor dining only, no travel outside Dublin unless work/education. No matches apart from elite level, no indoor gatherings in peoples houses. Pubs still closed, they were due to open next week.

Its level 3 on the new 5 level system (5 is full lockdown). Rates on infections gone through the roof since schools opened.

Rest of the country at level 2 but a few spots in danger of going level 3

I dont believe you. And I say that with a heavy heart.

We have supported our local Indian during this, they stayed open for takeaways till they were allowed tables, and yeah, the Eat Out thing was a huge win for them, but they were miles down in takings.

"Never done more business" during a 6 month pandemic? Ok mate.
It has happened, my friends own a sandwich shop on the wirral and through delivery (a new venture for them) during the pandemic have actually done well and taken on new staff, which is great for them as I feared they'd be going under. I must hasten to add that I realise this is an isolated case of strange circumstances and wouldn't use this rare example to highlight the well being of the restaurant trade

To be honest, I don’t necessarily think he’s lying. It could well be the case for some restaurants and bars.

But the trend is massively down across the country.

If its a spike due to the schools, with luck, the actual hospitalisation rates will remain low, ish. Manageable at least.

But not great either way.

A sandwich shop delivering to an existing customer base, (office workers and the like), is not a restaurant. Like I may be wrong, and there may well be isolated cases of caterers being innovative, but the "eating out" industry has been hammered.

No mate, it's fine. That's why the notoriously generous Tory government are subsidising it. Stands to reason, dunnit?

Sake.

Any parent who has put kids through infants and junior schools, (old money, I know), would have caught weird bugs from them that the kids just shrug off, but the parents feel like shabbite; this is obvs different gravy.
In the first lockdown i personally onky knew two people who tested positive - in the past 10 days I'd say i know at least 5 who have.

Hopefully the lockdown slows it otherwise its gonna be a long winter.

See I understand the generalisation mate , the blanket ban rather than the individual ones.

But for it to be effective it has to be all or none. That's the point I'm trying to get at, all well and good banning people from visiting each other in case they have a house party but if I can walk through hundreds of maskless, non social distanced people in town on Saturday if I need to go down there shopping then the lockdown, it achieves nothing.

It does mate. It stops the virus spreading in certain conditions, which will limit overall transmission.

Blimey, thats 7 more than I have since it all kicked off.

But I am a hermit pretty much.

No. I've been through this before. I am for a political solution to that: the Germans and French are stepping in to guarantee furlough until the end of 2021...so THAT is what I am advocating....for the umpteenth time!

PROTECT THE 2.5M SHIELDING.

I’m shocked that you’re trusting the government to protect these jobs and business’s.
