Well, you based your opinion that the restaurant world are coining it in based on one conversation with someone you didnt know.

Yes I did. But the eat out to help out scheme and the cut from 20% to 5% VAT gave restaurants a massive boost. Their indutrsy spokesperson said so. They were subsidised more than most other businesses.

They get 10k fines now for parties, that is a fair old deterrent.

If they pay it is another matter mate!

Way I see it is this confusing limbo of trying to keep the economy going whilst also trying to lower the spread just doesnt work.

You either lock it all down or you start rounding up the irresponsible cowboys who are taking the mick and make an example of them.

Work is still slow for me and stricter laws will make it even more difficult- add in me and the missus had a table booked in a swanky little place in Manchester for next weekend which I'll now have to cancel as I wont be able to get a train down there even though its just the two of us and would have been wearing masks/ carrying hand sanitizer and being responsible.

It does mate. It stops the virus spreading in certain conditions, which will limit overall transmission.
But compared to some of the examples I gave, honestly do you think town on a Saturday , shopping lanes in city centres, workplaces that have lax social distancing measures etc. Are they not worse for spreading the virus? That are all fine in comparison?

The theory is that every workplace is covid secure, everyone socially distances in town and drinkers only have a few and be on their merry way. But none of that is the reality in the country.

Drive there ?

So, just to summarise: everthing will change...although not until next Tuesday...and then they wont change at all...everything that was open remains open.

What a shower of incoherent and incompetent scum we have running this country.

It's all OK Boris had a word with the virus and they've agreed a truce until Tuesday.

That said the virus is trying to get around this by breaking it in limited and specific ways.

jesus, all local to you? 9 in total or 4 out of 5?

My Brother and his g/f tested positive on the anti-body, 2 people in my missus work and 1 of my mates, all young people, so all recovered.

None of the dead I was personally attached to and only 2 of them were local.

That ignores my mate who had 3 of his family members die in Belgium from it and the countless people who have had it and died in my daughters home, all elderly.

Here's a question.

Why is it the north being put into local lockdowns when the south , including London is just as bad if not worse?

They are getting similar numbers to Liverpool , if not more. They have an r rating of anywhere up to 1.3, similar or worse than Liverpool.

Why not lock down London as well?

Thats not true mate, the South isn't anywhere close to our numbers.
